Chandler Rivers POV

It was them. Stan's kids were back. I can't believe this. I don't get it. How is it we didn't know that Stan and JoAnna were killed.

"Pack meeting." I yelled. Our pack wasn't big but it was big enough. And half the people here will be effected by the news I am about to unleash onto them.

"What's up dad?" My son Logan asked. This will effect him the most.

"I'll explain it all to you in a second." I said.

"This has to do with the new neighbors doesn't it." he asked. I nodded. The pack in total all came into the pack meeting room. We lived in one big house in the middle of the woods. There is about ninety or so of us and at least fifty of us are going to be shocked.

"Thank you all for coming. I have a job for us to start tomorrow. It is a big job a special job. The house belongs to Alpha Stan and Luna JoAnna." I said pausing for them to quiet down.

"Are they back?" some one asked.

"No unfortunately they are not. I have been informed by their eldest son Gunner that our Alpha and Luna were kidnapped and murdered. Why we haven't been told of this is beyond me. But the fight to become Alpha is off. Gunner will take over. But there is one small issue. Gunner nor his siblings know about us. I am going to speak with his aunt the lady he has lived with since this all went down. Until then nobody is to go near their home in wolf form until this is all sorted out. I do want guards to watch over them. Logan, Christian and Casper take the first watch. Addison, Salone and Becca take the second watch and then I need crews one and two to be ready at six to work. Crews three an four I will need your help loading the trucks." I said everyone was still in shock to what I have just said.

"Logan come with me to speak to Carol Highland. Keegan your in charge until I get back." I said leaving the still shocked pack.

Logan was quiet the whole way to Carol's house. Something was bothering him and it would have to wait until I was done with Carol. I pulled into her driveway and waited until she looked out the window. She had to of known we were coming.

"Come on son." I said getting out.

"Chandler, it's good to see you." Carol said.

"You lied to me." I said walking passed her and into the house.

"I know I did but I had three good reasons." She said as she followed me in. Logan was behind her.

"I understand wanting to protect them. I get it. But you haven't even told them what they are. How could you not tell them what they are? How have you stopped him from changing? please tell me it's not some stupid magic or something." I snapped.

"It's not. Our pack doctor came up with a medicine that prevents shifting. Gunner takes it everyday with his dinner." She said sighing.

"Your telling him." I demanded.

"No way. I can't. He will hate me for lying to him." She said wide eyed.

"You lied to him so you will tell him. If I have to tell him he will hate you more. Now I am giving you the chance to make it right. You have until Sunday at midnight. Come Monday morning I will tell him." I said standing up. I walked to the window and waited for her to say something.

"I will tell him but not Charlee or Jace." She said in a soft voice.

"What happened to Stan and JoAnna?" I asked.

"They were heading out to meet with the Yellow Pear Pack and somewhere between here and there their car broke down. The called for someone to come tow their car and called me to let me know what was going on. That was the last I had heard from them. The police contacted me the following after noon. They had found their car abandoned on the side of the road and no sign of Stan or my sister. About a week later they found their bodies in a ditch. They had been beaten and dismembered. I went to the place their bodies were found and the only scent I smelled was human. No werewolves anywhere. I don't understand it." She said crying. She was right it made no sense at all.

"Why did you hide this from us? we had a right to know. We had a right to bury our Alpha and friend. Your selfish." I said shaking my head.

"I didn't want this life for the kids. I didn't want who ever did this to my sister and her mate to come after the kids." She said.

"We could have left the kids out of all of it. We as a pack deserved to know what happened." I said.

"Your right but at the time I thought I was doing the right thing. I am the only thing those kids have left." She said.

"That is where you are wrong they have a pack. They have their pack. Gunner will be Alpha." I said watching her flinch.

"It's not what I wanted for him." she whispered.

"It is what his parents wanted, it is what he was born to do. If the change doesn't kill him first." I said making her and Logan look at me.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Because he is a fully grown adult it could kill him to go through the first change. His bones are set not still in the grown stage. Your doctor is a dumbass." I said walking back over to the couch.

"I have never heard of such a thing." she said.

"How often does someone not shift when they turn 16? how often does someone try and stop the change?" I asked.

"Oh Goddess what have I done?" she asked tears sliding down her face.

"I don't know but you have until Sunday at midnight to fix most of it. When he is ready to stop the meds and change I want to be there." I told her.

"Yes of course." she said.

"Let's go Logan." I said heading for the door.

"Who the hell was that? what the hell was you two talking about?" Logan asked as soon as we were in the car.

"That is Carol Highland daughter to Alpha Sig Highland from the Rose Petal Pack. JoAnna's former pack." I said.

"I will still be beta right?" he asked.

"Yeah son you'll still be beta." I said sighing. I knew he had worked his ass of to become Alpha. Now he will have to help train the next in line. Good thing nobody can challenge Gunner. The pack was started with a Madison and a Madison will always win when it comes to a fight whether they are human or not.

"Well I guess I will meet up with Christian and Casper and watch over the future of our pack." he said.

"I know you have worked your ass off to become the next Alpha or at least give it your all as you battled for the Alpha position. I love your drive and how you have been preparing for this for so long. But that will just make you a better beta." I told him.

"I'm actually fine with it." he said with a shrug.

"Gunner will need your help." I told him with a sigh.

"Thats cool." he said opening his door.

"Go on then." I said knowing he needed to run.

"See ya in the morning" he said before slamming the door.

My son is one tough cookie but even he can be disappointed. He was proud that he would have a shot at being the next Alpha. But I know he will do me proud as the beta. His mom would be proud of him. I just wish she would have been my true mate. Maybe she would have stuck around to watch him grow up. Without a true mates bone I couldn't tell you if he was still alive.
