Shifting

Gunner's POV.

My body has been so achy. I thought it was all the work and training I was doing here lately. All I wanted to do was crawl in a hole and hide until it was over. Logan would ask me daily how I was feeling but I didn't want to show weakness. I am an Alpha after all. I have also learned so much. Being an Alpha is a HUGE responsibility.

"Are you sure you don't mind us hanging at the pack house this weekend?" Charlee asked.

"It's fine guys honestly. But I want you practicing and learning. It's not all about fun and games." I said as I made their plates. We didn't have practice tonight, Logan was hanging with his friends and Chandler wouldn't be here for an hour or so yet to get the kids.

"Casper is going to teach me how to be stealth like. He's a weird gout but when it comes to him doing his job he is really good." Jace said.

"How are you feeling about the fact that he might be your mate?" I asked him.

"I don't think I am. But next month we will find out. He's a great guy and if we were meant to be together then I will except it." Jace said. He has always be so smart. Good kid with a great head on his shoulders.

"I wonder who is going to be my mate?" Charlee said with this far away girly face going on. It sucks that I can't kick her mates ass. Well I can but only if he treats her badly. Or she shit I forgot she could have a nice she-wolf as her mate. That would be so nice.

"I wonder who your mate will be. Who will the lucky boy or girl be?" Jace asked.

"I'd be happy either way." I said sitting down with my plate.

(So pissed right now. I had this chapter just about done. So pissed off. )

"Malinda, Casper's mom is going to be teaching me how to make homemade photo frames." Charlee said.

"If there nice we could sell them in our shop." I said.

"When will we start looking for a place to open said shop?" Charlee asked. We had hundreds of candles already made and she makes more daily. That and soap.

"Soon. I'm hoping that that place on Willow Creek Road will be rentable soon. They just remodeled the whole thing.

"That would be perfect. It's close to home and school. I could walk or ride my bike." Charlee said.

"Soon you could go in wolf form." Jace said making Charlee giggle.

"That sound so funny unreal like." Charlee said.

We talked back and forth for awhile then I sent the kids off to get ready while I cleaned up. This is the only thing I miss about living at Aunt Carol's. She would always do the cleaning if one of us cooked.

Knock................. knock...........

"Come in." I yelled elbow deep in dish water.

"Alpha Gunner." Chandler said.

"No need for the Alpha part Gunner is just fine." I said smiling at him.

"Thanks. Your dad was the same way. Are the kids ready?" he asked just as two energetic monkeys came running down the stairs.

"Good luck." I said chuckling.

"Bye, love you." Charlee said hugging me an kissing my cheek.

"Be good, love you too." I told her kissing her forehead.

"Loves." Jace said.

"Be good and I love you brat." I said making him laugh.

"I'll have them home by Sunday after dinner." Chandler said.

"That sounds good." I said smiling.

"If you need anything call Logan first." He said heading out the door.

"You got it." I said.

Once they were gone I cleaned up the house and decided to take a really hot bath and try and relax my muscles. I somewhat feel like I have been hit by a Mac truck.

The water instantly turned my skin red. But it felt awesome. This was what I needed. I relaxed to where my chin was barely in the water and closed my eyes.

I woke up when I felt and heard a popping sound come from my body then I felt the pain in my hip. I hurried out of the tub and wrapped a towel around me. As I limped into my room the other side popped and the next thing I know I'm on the floor on my knees. It hurt bad but I was more worried about not having someone here. I crawled to my phone and text Logan. Just as I finished the text things seemed to slow down into a slow motion. I could feel the bones popping an moving and the pain was unreal. Chandler said because of my age and because of my bones being somewhat set it was going to hurt ten times more. If that is the case I feel for Charlee and Jace and any other werewolf because this fucking hurts.

Through the fog of pain I thought I heard someone come into my room. I was curled up on the floor trying not to move. I swear there was tears rolling down my cheek and I may or may not have been drooling.

"Gunner I am going to cover you with this blanket and remove the towel." Logan said. I think. Not sure. It was a bit muffled and he sounded like a girl. A manly girl but a girl.

I refused to make a sound and I really didn't want anyone around me. Something in me refused to be weak. Even if it hurt like a bitch.

"I need you to relax as much as you can. You should be feeling like there is something else with you or trying to poke its way into your head listen to him." Logan said.

He was right I could feel something. But relaxing. Is he joking? that will not happen.

"Calm your self son." a voice said inside my head.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked mentally.

"Your wolf. I was actually your fathers wolf." My wolf said.

"Will we talk like this a lot?" I asked.

"No. The only time I will be allowed to talk to you is now." he said.

"So you was my dads wolf? do you know who killed him and my mom? Why they were killed? And why didn't they fight?" I asked relaxing slightly.

"Humans. Humans killed your parents trying to make them shift. They were trying to prove that our kind exist. Your parents refused to exposes our kind. They didn't even fight." He said.

"So they died because of some messed up hunters?" I asked.

"Yes. Your parents were very brave and should be honored for their sacrifice. Those humans were each met with an untimely death as well. The moon Goddess made sure they paid. If our kind has to pay for exposing ourselves to them they will pay for killing us to try and make us exposes ourselves." He said a new wave of pain hit me. "Relax. If you relax you will shift soon if your do not this will take hours." He said.

"I'm trying." I said taking a deep breath.

"I don't have much time. So you'll be shifting soon. You will make a great Alpha. And your mate will teach you everything you need to known he has done well so far. Take care young Gunner. Remember your father is with you because I am with you. You will face more heartache in the future but with that heartache will bring a love that can is greater then anything in life." He said.

"My mate? You said he, right? How will the Madison name continue on?" I asked.

(Wattpad I am getting really mad at you right now. This was done. I saved it and everything. I came back and was going to add a little note and my chapter is almost all gone. This keeps happening. I have reported it again. Now I must rewrite it all. sorry guys. This keeps happening this story could have been done by now if it didn't keep happening. I swear I have rewritten ten chapters so far on this story an the other one I am writing.)

"Your mate is someone special. Who or what doesn't matter. As for reproducing a heir, modern medicine my boy, modern medicine." He said laughing. His voice was fading and he sounded far away. I was losing the ability to talk to him.

"Thank you. I hope to make you and my parents proud." I said just as a unbearable pain hit me. My world went black.


A/N: sorry for venting guys. This chapter is a lot shorter then what it originally was. I just don't have the heart to rewrite it all. So I'm moving on and I hope things get better from here on out. I would love to finish this before Christmas. My goal was next week but that isn't going to happen.
