"Where did you go?" Reina said, following me up the stairs.
"I went to drink coffee before sending someone back home."
Her eyes lit up. When Reina's eyes light up it's not a good thing. Never was a good thing. Never will be a good thing.
I prepared myself for the onslaught.
"WHO??"
I ran up the stairs like a mad dog or something and no doubt Reina followed me behind. However this insane dog was running up the stairs two steps at a time. If my sister was ever on the women's soccer I bet she will be the one running too fast that she would miss the ball.
My stairs are really wide, and it is lined with red carpet so you can't tell whether there is anyone behind you because the carpet blocks out the sound. So you can imagine my shock when something t-boned me from the side and sat on top of me
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing."
"Clearly," I said. "You are not doing nothing. You are most definetly doing something."
"WHO??"
=.= (my face now)
"Connie!"
I looked up to see my father. He was wearing a suit, which means that something formal is going to happen tonight.
"Get changed for dinner and - REINA! What are you doing??"
I think she never gets tired of that sentence.
She immediately stood up and ran upstairs. "Sorry fath presidener!"
I have to give it to him. He is probably the only guy under this roof who can control that dog.
"CHANGE REINA!" he shouted down the hallway. "I KNOW!"
I was holding back my laughter as I stood up. Reina has lost this time. I briskly walked up the stairs and pushed the door open before I went into my room, I opened another door and stepped inside my wardrobe. Grabbing the first suit I saw, I changed at lighting speed before Reina Harrington could come in and ran downstairs.
Once I reached the last step, the doorbell rang. Reina pratically zoomed past me and unlatched the door. How does a girl change so fast? Crazy, I know.
I watched who will walk through that door. Last time, Switzerland's vice-president came and I could hardly understand anything he was saying. I cannot understand people with accents. If the French president is coming tonight I will still have time to sneak out the back door.
Nobody walked inside. However, Reina stood at the door talking to someone. Out of curiousity, I walked there to see who it was.
My eyes widened when I saw Corvene standing at my door.
"She's here to return you your phone. You lent it to her to bluetooth songs and forgot take it back."
Oh.
"Connie! Who is that?"
I opened my mouth to say it was no one but of course, and as always, Reina opened her's first.
"CONRAD'S FRIEND THAT IS A GIRL MOTHER!!"
Seriously, is the part where she is a girl important?
Then I remembered, my mother once asked me if I had any other girl friends besides Janelle. I guess she is bored seeing Janelle all the time, so when Reina mentioned the part that she was a girl,
"Oh! Has she had dinner yet?"
I saw Reina smiling and I wanted nothing else in the world than to give her a black eye.
Corvene looked at me in confusion. "Aren't you having something formal tonight?" "Yes, and that's why you should go now."
Drinking coffee with her is fine, but having a formal dinner with her, sounded like a date, and I don't want to go anywhere near that.
Suddenly, my mother's head popped out and pulled Corvene in.
"But, mother!" I protested, "You don't know whether she wants to eat here!"
"Actually, Mrs Harrington, as you can see I am no where near dressed formal, and I prefer can always go back home for dinner."
"Well that's okay! We won't mind it, oh please, do stay!"
My mother seemed pretty desprate, and because of this, Corvene says, " Well.......okay I guess."
My mother smiled you could see her whole set of teeth on the first row and went upstairs, and I pinched Reina's arm so hard she was trying extremely hard to not scream, she did not want to be vulnerable to me. I could not blame Corvene anyway, my mother, being the owner of Arbelest Motors, which is like the number one company that sells cars back in England, obviously will know how to bring out her persuasive side when she wants something to go her way.
She tossed me my phone. "Your mother is British?" "Yeah. Just asking, do you know anything about politics? If no, leave the awnsering of questions to me."
She raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Are you actually testing me on politics?"
"What. Only girls like Reina know about them."
Corvene sighed. "I really need to knock some sense into you." she said, looking around the house. She saw the indoor waterfall and pond, velvet sofa, number of oak-wood doors, marble floor, how big the area she was standing in was, all the way up, before dropping her head back down and looked at me.
"Conrad, do you get like a million dollars for your weekly allowance?"
"No, I get about five hundred. Most of it goes to the bank anyway. Come on, I'll show you around."
I brought her to the pool and she gasped when she saw a rose bush sitting in the soil. She immediately bend down and stared at them. "You like flowers?" I said.
"Of course!! Don't you like them? They represent hope and beauty."
Light bulb.
"Hey, come with me. I'll show you something really cool."
