Her eyes flashed a dim blue colour as Stiles calmed down a little and glanced at her eyes before looking away again, remembering how his behaviour as a omega should be, now that he wasn't in agony.

She was a beta, a submissive one with how dim her eyes were but they were unusually dim, like someone had sucked the life out of them.

"You're noticing huh?" She said with a strained smile.

"I-I'm sorry-" Stiles stammered, he shouldn't face looked her in the eyes at all but she interrupted his apology.

"No, it's fine, I know I look odd" She then added "It's not like that matters here"

He looked at her confused but before he could ask any questions she could see his expression and explained herself, her own expression full of sympathy that Stiles had never seen before.

"This is your first shot, so you probably don't feel any different or noticed anything but they inject you with that stuff once a day and slowly you notice that you're different than before"

Stiles suddenly had a feeling he knew where this was going but that couldn't be right? It was impossible!

Her next words confirmed it.

"I...used to be an alpha"

He didn't know how to take that, what to feel, what to think, this had to be some sort of nightmare.

But he knew that wasn't true, he couldn't keep on telling himself that.

"I don't...understand" Stiles said, his voice shaking.

Lucy hunched her shoulders as she said slowly "They're found out a way to change us and their experimenting with that, pushing our bodies too the limit until we..."

She, cringed, as if she remembered something horrible but she forced herself to continue "I don't really know how it happens. When pushed too far Omega's just seemed to waste away, I've even seen some suffocate for no apparent reason, while Alpha's looked like they were in agony, like something inside them was tearing them apart a-and they'd start b-bleeding and...well you get the picture"

But Stiles could figure it out but he still felt incredibly confused.

A sense of dread humming under his skin.

He could hear crying and some screams all around him and he watched someone else get pulled from their cell by the guards, they were weeping, crying hysterically but not fighting back at all.

She said shakily "There used to be hundreds and hundreds of us but slowly we all started to die of as they pushed us to our limits"

Stiles looked around, now noticing there were still a lot of people in cells but definitely not hundreds. There didn't even seem to be enough cells to hold that number.

He imagined being stuffed into a cell, with no room to move, like cattle in a slaughter house.

He shuddered.

Some frustration started to build inside him.

"They're killing us all?! What's the point of that?"

"They say that depending on our age, biology in general, that those injections seem to effect us faster or slower so they're trying to finger out the average. The average amount a human needs to change"

"Trying to find...the average..." Stiles said slowly.

No, he got it wrong.

They weren't beating treated like cattle.

They were being treated like lab rats.

Lucy looked down at the ground as she said, her voice wavering "Our only option, is to wait here to die"
