The Flowers

In the morning I get up only to find Peeta gone. I go downstairs and see him cooking.

"Hey," I walk over to him.

"Hey," he kisses my forehead.

I smile and sit down. This day couldn't get any better. Oh! I almost forgot! Haymitch and Effie's wedding is today.

"Haymitch and Effie's wedding is today," I giggle.

"Oh yeah," Peeta grins.

"After breakfast we should get ready and..." I drift off.

"And go to see them," he finishes.

I nod. This is so bizarre. The wedding, my mom and Gale, and Peeta and I engaged. For real this time. I smile, happy about it. Yes and Haymich, Effie, and my mother are happy. I don't know about Gale. He'll move on. Me and Peeta eat quickly. I say bye and tell him I'll be back here ready in an hour. When I get my house I dress in the dress I wore in district 6. It brings Cinna to my mind. I really miss him, his sanity through it all. I put my hair in a ponytail and dab on some lipgloss. I make my way over to Peetas. He's dressed in the tux he wore in district 6. We laugh at our selections of dress. We go to haymitchs and find the wedding has almost begun. It's a small one. Effie looks gorgeous in her pearly white dress. After the ceremony. Effie introduces a tradition I've never heard of. Where the bride tosses her bouquet and the I married girls stand behind her and try to catch it. We all gather Ina small blob. I hold out my arms not trying to catch anything. It's almost creepy how her flowers fall perfectly in my arms.

I stand starting at the flowers. I turn my head to Peeta, he smiles. I guess it really was real. I'm going to get married next. My mom laughs and comes over to me. She hugs me.

"Not anytime soon!" She giggles.

" it's going to be me right?" Gale asks strolling over to me.

I just look at Peeta for help. He'll know what to say.

"No," he starts coming over and grabbing my hand,"we have an announcement."

I look to my mother.

"We are going to get married," he announces.

Everyone gapes at us. Gales smile disappears. My mom shakes her head vigorously. I just smile and try to act casual. Haymitch starts laughing really hard. Effie is frozen in shock. I turn and look into Peetas eyes. Yes this is the right thing.

"Katniss," my mom starts.

"No, mom this is what's happening," I say.

"Congrataiolations!" Effie says.

I smile and drag Peeta out of there. When we are back outside I lead him to the woods. After about a mile into the woods when we are nearing the lake I stop.

"What?" He asks.

"I just want to freeze this moment right here and live in it forever," I say.

"Okay," he grins.

"You'll allow it?" I ask.

"Yes," he answers then kisses me.
