-Arizona-

"Arizona, sweetie, can you help me for a second?" My mom asks, coming into the living room where Steven and I were sat watching his performance on television.

"Yeah what's up?" I ask her, looking over at her.

"Steve Johnson is bringing by about two dozen new cattle. I'm gonna need a little help rounding them up and getting them in the west field." She says and I smile, nodding my head.

"Figured you could show Steven how it's done." She smiles and I roll my eyes, standing up and running up the stairs. I quickly change into a pair of cut off denim shorts, and a spaghetti strap tank top. I tie my feet into some small ankle boots, and head down the stairs.

"You've done this before I take it?" Steven asks me as we all head out the door.

"Welcome to my roots." I smile at him. "This used to be my thing. I love it." I tell him heading to the shed. I grab the saddle and everything I need setting them on the fence post before jumping over.

I let out a long whistle, and wait until I see the black horse running towards me again. The sun was beating down, since it was only about noon, it was just about at its peak, and it's hottest.

Bandit stops right in front of me, and I stroke his neck for a moment before putting his bridle on and tying him to the fence post. I grab the saddle pad and put that over his back before grabbing the heavy saddle and placing it over his back.

Steven just observes me as I buckle it and pull to make sure that it was going to stay in place. I leave his bridle tied to the fence post for a moment.

"Have you ever ridden a horse before?" I ask Steven and he nods his head at me.

"Quite a few times when I was younger, but I like watching you. I saw you yesterday, and it took my breath away." He says and I look at him with a smile.

"Why is that?" I ask him, and he smiles.

"You look so carefree, and I can tell it's where you feel at home. You're beautiful, always, but when I saw you yesterday... you were radiant." He says and I smile, leaning in to leave a kiss on his lips.

"Janie, get ready, here they come." My mom says and I groan.

"She's going to call me that the rest of the time you're here." I tell him, pecking his lips once more, before I untie the bridle and throw myself onto the back of the horse.

My mom opened the gate and I lead Bandit out of the gate and onto the driveway. I see old Steve Johnson pull up with around two or three trucks with trailers behind them.

He stops the first truck and the others wait just outside the gate. I watch as he jumps from the truck and greets my mom. I pull Bandit to a standstill for a moment.

"Arizona, my goodness girl you've grown!" He says, his old southern accent coming out.

I smile down at him from my place on the back of my horse.

"Hey Steve, how many you got today?" I ask him, stroking Bandit's neck as he starts getting impatient.

"'Bout fifteen. Think you can handle 'em?" He asks and I smile at him.
