i arrived at school earlier than usual. we had to if we wanted to get to the camp on time.

"hey dude! are you ready for science camp?" my best friend since kindergarten walked up to me, surprising me.

"i mean, i'll be away from my parents and siblings for a week so I guess i am," i giggled. we walked up to our science class and told our parents goodbye by the buses.

miss way (a/n not like gerard way i just couldn't think of a last name) walked to the front of the class. "okay kids! its science camp time! now we all know you've been waiting for this all year, but that doesn't mean you can get wild on the bus ride there. so, just to double check: you all went through your luggage and checked off all of the essential things, right?" the entire class nodded their heads. "okay! let's get onto the bus!"

when we walked outside, the luggage on the sidewalk next to the bus was gone. i guess while we were in the classroom the parents put our luggage into the bus.

then, miss way pushed us all onto the bus and instantly i rolled down my window to wave goodbye my mom and dad.

"dude this is so sick!" i told ryan once we entered the freeway. ryan pulled out his camera and snapped a picture of us.

a teacher once asked ryan what he wanted to be when he grew up when we were little. his answer would always be a photographer. he says he likes capturing moments. seemed pretty reasonable for me.

an hour or two later, we arrived at the camp. as ryan is telling me to move so he can take pictures of the scenery, some random stranger hops onto the bus.

"hey! i'm jessica, one of the cabin leaders. i'm just going to get right into the rules: no phones or walkmans, no makeup, no weapons of any kind, no bandanas..." jessica droned on about the rules that miss way already went over during class so half of us stopped paying attention, until jessica caught our attention by saying this next part: "this part is very important, so listen up: if you get 3 strikes, you're being sent home!"

🌿

after jessica talked a bit more, she stepped off the bus. the bus drives towards the front of the camp. all the students hopped off and almost immediately after. miss. way then started to demand us to get into a boy's and girl's line.

"okay! so, mr. lester right here will take the boys and sort them into their cabins, while miss rose will take the girls and sort them i to their cabins!" miss way explained.

'miss rose' led the girls to another section of the field we were on and 'mr. lester' did the same. he grouped us up then started to speak, "okay. please don't call me 'mr. lester'. it makes me sound all grown up and i do not want to be a grown up, even though i'm nearing 30. so please, call me phil." he says in a british accent. "now that that's settled, let's get you kids into your cabins!"

"connor franta?"

a boy with curly brown hair slowly raises his hand.

"lizard 3!"

phil went on and separated everyone into their cabins. soon, he gets to my name.

"tyler joseph?"

i raised my hand and yell, "here!"

"lizard 3!"

god, i did not want to be here with these snotty kids. ever since i started to look at boys differently, everyone's been treating me like absolute shit. i'm not even completely gay!

it's even worse that almost all of the people in my grade are spoiled. and just to show how spoiled they are, we got one of the fancy buses to go to camp. it had reclining seats, tvs, and air conditioning. i mean, i'm not complaining, but i just hate everyone here except my best friends gerard, frank, and debby. they were my favorite people in the world.

as debby and i were talking, we were then separated by our science teacher mr. jefferson. "i'll see you at lunch debby!" i yelled out. she waved.

some guy named joey then came up to all of the boys and then started to yell out names, animals and numbers. what's happening? i honestly probably should've payed attention. oh well.

"joshua dun?" i hear joey say.

"heyo!" i raise my hand. i hear some kids mutter slurs after i raised my hand. luckily, i've learned to ignore them.

"lizard 2!"

the fuck is lizard 2? i really should've payed attention instead of talking to debby.

joey ushered us into the cabin, but instead of the other cabins that we saw, he was leading us into this two story house that was white. it was odd since all the other cabins were one story and a dark wood color, but i guess thats how they made the camp.

as i walked into the cabin i looked up and saw a boy with fluffy hair walking up the stairs, talking to another boy with a camera around his neck. he looks kind of cute––the boy with the fluffy hair.

wait, fuck, that's gay.

oh well.

at least no one can hear my thoughts.
