Jamie's POV

As soon as I walked into the pack house, everyone looked at me. Well, that's an exaggeration. The older werewolves looked at me. My mom walked up to me and greeted me with hug, like usual.

"Hey Wooly, what's the matter? You look down." My mom called me by the nickname she gave me when I was just a baby. She looked as concerned as she sounded.

"Nothing, Mom." I tried to walk off, but my mom is a lot stronger than she looks. Standing at 5'1", she looks like a fragile woman. But she is one of our strongest wolves. That's part of why my father fell in love with her. Besides the fact that they were mates. She grabbed my arm and kept me in the spot we were standing.

"Jamie. Tell me what is bothering you." She said in a more commanding tone.

"Mom, I don't want to talk about it." She flinched at my harsh tone. She let go of my arm, and I rushed up the stairs to my room.

I didn't get even two minutes of silence before someone knocked on my door. Frustrated, I got up and opened it. To my surprise, it was Kasey.

"Oh, hey." I said, gaining interest in my feet.

"Can I come in?"

"Sure." I turned and went to my bed. She followed and almost sat next to me, but thought better of it and sat in my chair.

"Word around the house says something is bothering you. Enough for you to get mad at your mom." I nodded. "Is it because of me?" I shook my head. "Jamie, look at me."

I looked at her, and she looked concerned. And, shockingly, all my rage towards her was gone. The fact that she had cheated on me seemed so small, because, in the end, our relationship was meaningless anyways.

She interrupted my revelation. "Jamie, if this is because of me-"

"Kasey-"

"No, Jamie, let me finish." She looked determined, but sad. "I am so sorry. I wish I could take back what I did. You didn't deserve that. I was just scared of how close we were getting. I thought I need other things. But I was wrong. Is there any possibility of you forgiving me?"

"I forgive you." I said, without thinking. I knew that the words were true, though.

"Really?" I nodded. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," she said repeatedly as she hugged me. "So can we start things over, from the beginning?"

"No." I deadpanned.

"What?" She asked as quickly as I responded.

"No." I repeated my previous answer.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Why? I thought you forgave me."

"I do forgive you." I sighed, grabbing her hand. "Kasey, look... You and I, we were great together. But recently, things have... Well, things have changed. I don't exactly know what has changed, but I know that you and I being together is pointless. I loved you, and I still do. But we weren't made for each other. You know that just as well as I do. I don't want to hold you back from falling in love with who you are supposed to fall in love with. I know I don't want to be blocked from that."

She looked taken aback. After a long pause, she finally regained her composure. "What's with the sudden change? Not even a week ago you were preaching against mating. Now you're advertising it? I don't understand."

"I don't either. But since that party, I have been a mess. And it's not because of you."

"What? Do you think you found your mate at that party or something?"
