"Honey."
"Sweetie, it's time to wake up."
"Scarlett Isabella Anderson! I have been calling down to you for the past half an hour. It's time to get up and out of bed. There's more of the world to see than just the plain white walls of your bedroom." Scarlett's mother had arrived late last night, Scarlett having fallen asleep much earlier than her arrival. Scarlett groaned as she rolled out of bed, her mother storming towards the window where her curtains were to be abruptly opened, almost blinding Scarlett with the bright white light that shone through.
"Mom, what time is it?" She asked, her voice hoarse after the long hours of sleep.
"It's near on 11:30. What in gods name were you doing up so late last night?" Her mom said, an underlying accusatory tone was clear to the likes of Scarlett's ears.
"I wasn't up late at all. I can't believe I slept in this late. I was in bed by 10 at the latest." It was then that it all came flooding in, everything that had been racing through her head last night, and evidently preventing her from falling asleep until earlier in the morning.
"Well, make yourself presentable and hurry downstairs. We have some new neighbours for the first time in God knows how long and we don't want to make them feel unwelcome. Jeanie was telling me that it's a young boy around your age and his Grandmother. I thought we would go over and introduce ourselves. Be quick, I have a meeting that I have to get to by 1." And with that, Scarlett's mom had made her way out the door.
Scarlett had been up all night, thoughts racing through her head. At least now she could put some piece of her mind at rest knowing that it was just his Grandma and not in innocent old lady, but her mother's comments also struck another door in her mind, a new set of thoughts flooding through. What would it be like having the towns bad boy living next door? She knew she couldn't stand him. He frustrated her beyond imaginable. The thing she hated most was the fact that he didn't care. He didn't care about his grades or whether or not he hurt his mates feelings, he didn't care about the futures he was wrecking with all of those girls he played around with. He didn't have a drive. All he cared about was which cheerleader he would score if the team won the game. But she made a promise to herself, a promise to try with him. 'You never know,' she thought, 'underneath all that, there might be a decent guy there. Maybe even one that's worth caring about.'

Hi Guys, incredibly sorry about the stuff around with the chapters. I accidentally published one of my original drafts and not the final chapter. Unfortunately I only just realised, two weeks after uploading 😁😁. Oh well all fixed now. Hope you're enjoying the fanfic. Will update soon. X
