And there it is, was Scarlett's first thought. The two had never so much as had a conversation for longer than 2 minutes, with either Scarlett getting sick of his egotistical tone, or Dave getting distracted by one of his posse members. It is precisely that reason why she wasn't alarmed when the shocked expression appeared momentarily on Dave's face, before he quickly recomposed himself.
"What are the chances, Dave Franco moving next door to the one and only Scarlett Anderson," Dave spoke with the greatest smirk on his face. By the disapproving look on Grams' face, Scarlett had a fleeting thought that maybe he wasn't always an ass, but that thought went with the wind almost immediately. No-one can fake it that easy, it has to come naturally.
"Oh, you two know one another?" Geninne questioned, looking curiously between the two. Scarlett knew instantly that her mom was planning something, and she hoped she could get away from the house as soon as possible so that her plan was deactivated.
"Oh, um, yeh. Dave goes to South Port High. We've seen each other around," Scarlett said, trying not to give too much away with the underlying annoyance in her tone. "Anyway, it was lovely to meet you Grams, and to see you Dave, but we have to get going. Lots of errands that need to get done today. Hopefully we can catch up soon." And with that, Scarlett turned around, making a bee-line for the end of the porch.
"Wait, Scarlett, honey. Why doesn't Dave join you today? It will make those tasks a lot more fun, won't be such a boring Saturday, hey?" Geninne smiling face looked over to Scarlett, the secret mischievousness only visible to Scarlett's eye.
"Oh no, mom. I don't want to burden Dave with that duty. But I must go, otherwise your dress won't be ready in time for tonight." She gave her mom a stern look, hoping that Dave and Grams weren't able to see it.
"I'd be happy to give you a hand Scarlett." She hated that he had to say something.
"No, honestly. Enjoy your Saturday. We best be off though. It was lovely meeting you Grams. I hope you have a great day." And with that, Scarlett walked across the front yard, and hopped into the car, not bothering to check if her mom was following. She turned the engine on, and off she went, forgetting that the dress was still hanging in the entrance of her house.
