What had happened in the forest didn’t hit me until that moment after Tyven had left. I had let a vampire kiss me. Not only that, but I had liked it. And Tyven was a creeper. Why were all these fantasy creatures suddenly showing up in my life? Today was officially the worst day of my life. First I get attacked by a wolf and quarrel with werewolves, and then I lose my duffel bag and play hooky with a vampire.

What’s next? Zombies who want to eat my brains? A witch who curses me? I don’t know how much more I can take. Stuff like this only happened to pretty girls in books like Twilight or The Vampire Diaries or The Southern Vampire Mysteries. Not to a girl like me in real life.

I have no clue what to do. Well, I suppose I should start trying to rewrite my English paper. Mr. Davidson did not tolerate late work. I am not entirely sure how I will get out of this house, but there has to be some way. My resolve suddenly gave me energy enough to get up and stop moping around. There were things that needed focusing on right now. I’d deal with how to leave the house later.

First thing’s first though, I have to start rewriting my English paper because I really don’t feel like going to summer school. By the time I calmed myself down enough to get up the stairs and start my English paper over, it was 9:08 P.M. and I was feeling exhausted. I managed to remember most of what I had written before, but the rest I had to make up again. Then I guess I fell asleep at my desk because I don’t remember finishing my paper and climbing into bed.

Monday. Even though I woke up twenty minutes early, I could tell today was not going to be a good day. For the first time ever I wanted to stay under the covers for the rest of my life. Usually I couldn’t stand more than an extra two minutes in bed after I woke up. When I woke up, I was up for the rest of the day; I never fell back asleep. This morning was different. Everything about it. I actually made my bed this morning because I had the time, I cooked and ate breakfast before I got dressed, I wore an outfit I never knew I had, and I found myself standing inside my house, staring at the door and running plans of action through my head. Every single one was a dead end.

Taedyn’s POV

Monday. School. Teachers. And her. I knew that I would see Cassie at school. I mean it was the only school for miles around this town and I’m pretty sure she didn’t go to a school out of town. The only thing I was worried about was a scene. Not Cassie causing a scene, but me. She had this means of provoking me in all the wrong ways. So I could only hope we didn’t have too many classes together.

Though I could pass for younger in some cases, I am actually nineteen years old and the twins are eighteen. Seren is twenty-two years old and obviously too old to pass for a high school student. So while the twins and I searched the school for the girl and I tried to stay clear of Cassie, Seren would do some searching around the town for anything out of the ordinary. No one had a clue about how old this girl was. Heck, she could be twelve for all I knew. Or dead like she was supposed to be. Seren just figured that hiding in plain sight would make it easier for us to identify any strange activity.

Seren was taking the twins and I to get our schedules from the school office. A small town in rural Montana. Whitewater, Montana is home to 448 people of which 48% of the population is female. It’s a lot better than other odds in towns of larger size. That was when I realized all the Juniors had the same classes because the class was so small.

“Here are your schedules.” The lady behind the desk in the office handed them to Seren who handed them to the twins and me. The lady wore a nametag which said her name was Terra Stevens. Her eyes were beady behind thick glasses, but I’m sure she could’ve easily changed that and looked more attractive if she wore contacts.
