Do you know the Aesop Fable about 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'? - The title of this episode sounds a bit similar. 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' was a story about a shepherd boy who was tricking the villagers by giving a false alarm & telling them that a wolf attacked their sheep. He did it so many times that when the wolf really appeared and he informed them about the real danger - nobody believed him.
So does Aesop this fable relate to this Goosebumps episode? - Yes, because the main character of 'The Girl Who Cried Monster, Lucy Dark was scaring her little brother by telling him that there are monster hiding Everywhere - which was not true... Why was she doing this? - Just for fun! She said 'I love to scare my little brother Randy - I'm telling him scary stories about monsters until she just begs me to stop!' ( not the 'best big sister we could imagine', right? )... First she was just making all those monster stories up - But then she found a Real Monster!... And Yes! - You Guessed! - Nobody Believed Her then! - Cause they all thought that She Made it Up Again!
She was very 'creative in inventing monsters for every occasion' depending on what her little brother was doing: for example she invented a 'Razor Tooth Toe Biter' when Randy was walking barefoot in the garden... She was pretending that this monster cought her & scared her little brother so much that he run to the house screaming like a girl !
His mother calmed him down, assuring him that 'There's no such a thing as Toe Biter' & asked his sister 'Lucy, could you please stop scaring your little brother?'. But Lucy answered 'Mom, it was just a joke' ( Congratulations, Lucy! Great joke! - Your little brother was really frightened! - I bet you wouldn't like to be in his shoes! ).
As R.L. Stine played by Jack Black in 'Goosebumps Movie' said: 'A story must have the beginning, the middle & the twist' - & this story Does have the twist - & a Totally Unexpected Ending! ^_~
