For half the day people were constantly asking me if I was okay. I don't really remember much of this morning. It was just like one of those dreams, where you know you had it, but you don't remember it. I remember I lied to everyone, all morning, anytime someone asked if I was okay I lied. I told them I was fine, I was okay, and I didn't need the sympathy. But I lied, I wasn't fine. I wasn't okay. But I knew after school I had to meet Blake at our house, decide what to do with everything, and possibly decide to sell the house. At lunch, I sat across from Zack with Amber next to me, across from Amber was Chris. Matt sat the other side of me. I sat forking my salad, the air was tense, me and Zack still weren't talking.
"Ell, please eat something." Matt said to try and break the tension.
"I'm not hungry." I whispered. I then picked the plate up and walked over to the bin. Zack followed me.
"I'm sorry about earlier, it's not what you need and I'm sorry." Zack rushed.
"It's fine." I whispered. I then slowly paced back to my seat. I sat down and put my head in my hands.
"I need a minute." Amber said putting her hand over her mouth and running. Chris widened his eyes and ran after her.
"Ell, are you sure you're okay?" Matt asked putting his hand discretely on my thigh. I swiftly turned my head his way.
"Yeah, I... Um, I'm fine." I whispered. He didn't move his hand.
"Hey Zack! Can I speak to you, mate?" One of the football team players shouted across the food hall. Zack nodded, he stood up pulling his Leather jacket forward. He strutted towards the boy, I think his name is Riki, and they started talking. I looked to Matt who was staring at me. I then looked at his hand.
"What are you doing?" I whisper yelled.
"I just thought that... It... Um, you know would be nice for you to have some moral support." He stuttered.
"I don't need your moral support." I said sourly. At that moment, Zack and Riki (still not sure if that was his name.) came towards our table.
"Hey Matt?" Zack said.
"Yeah?" He said looking at them as he took his hand off my leg.
"You up for the after party on Friday? The whole team is invited so tell your brother as well, it's at mine." Riki said.
"Sure thing Riki, don't expect Chris though, he's proper whipped right now." Matt laughed.
"Typical, then again, with a bird like Amber. Actually, tell Chris Amby can come. You can come as well if you want sweet cheeks." Riki winked at me.
"Sure, I'll go." I smiled. Riki nodded before walking off.
"Looks like Riki has the eyes for you." Zack said raising his eyebrows.
"Don't get your hopes up, you and Jason have been getting along well lately." Matt said turning to me.
"Look, nothing is happening between me and anyone, okay?" I said before picking my bag up and leaving. No one came after me because they knew I didn't want to be bothered. I walked to the field and sat in the football seats. I stared out at the football field. It brought back memories of before all this happened. When Blake used to play football. After games, he used to go home get showered then we'd go out to eat somewhere. Usually a different place every time.
Me and Blake walked down the street on our way to a new cafe.
"So what you planning on ordering?" Blake asked me. I looked down at my nails, my father had attempted to paint them. They looked horrific, but I didn't care, as long as he tried to be both parents, I didn't care.
"I can't decide until I've seen the menu." I chirped. Blake laughed at me.
"You know, mum's old friend Christina, she's having a birthday party. She invited us and dad, do you want to go? We don't have to if you don't want to."
"I think we should go, do you think her sons will be there?" I asked looking up at him.
"Of course they will, they're her children, why?" He asked. I shrugged looking down at my feet.
"You like one of them don't you?" He asked. I could feel the blush coming up on my face.
"No I don't." I shuffled my feet.
"You're blushing!!" Blake practically yelled. I put my hands on my cheeks and widened my eyes.
"No I'm not!" I yelled. Blake grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into a hug.
"I'm kidding Ellen, blimey." He chuckled. We continues to walk, we were now only five minutes away from the cafe.
"But if you did like one of them, which you're certain you don't, surely the party would be your chance to talk to them right?" He smiled at me. I just shook my head and picked my pace up. Then I stood in front of the cafe.
"Amos and Lennie's place. Strange name." I said as we walked in.
"It's owned by two brothers. They didn't know what to call it so they called their place." I nodded me head.
I remember that place, I had a cupcake and a hot chocolate. I heard the bell go signalling last period. I walked up to my lesson. English Literature. Great. I sat in my seat and already seated was Bennet.
"Where were you at lunch?" He asked me as I wrote down the date.
"Football seats, why?" I asked, he's never hung out with me before at school, why did he need to know where I was.
"Jason was looking for you, him and Zack nearly got in a fight again."
"Who started it."
"Both of them. Jason asked where you were, Zack said he didn't know, Jason asked why he doesn't know where I am when he knows you're not in a good place right now, then Zack went to hit him. Matt got him away and I got Jason away." He finished.
"Sorry, why did Jason want me?" I asked. Bennet just shrugged. All I knew is I was going home after school. Home. I can't even call it that anymore. There's no point. It's no home. It's just a house.
