I Refused To Acknowledge

I refused to acknowledge
That which I supported
And didn't see as wrong.
I refused to acknowledge
My soul which had been thwarted
Whilst I sang my songs.

I refused to acknowledge
Feelings pushed deep deep down
Shh, a secret: I think I like you now.
I refused to acknowledge
My nights of screaming sound
Damn it! I loved you right before the ground.

I refused to acknowledge
This will all end soon
But not before my tears blur across the moon.
I refused to acknowledge
My life without you
Reading this is something you'll never do.

I refused to acknowledge
The boxes left unchecked
And heavy dreams I'd wrecked.
I refused to acknowledge
Things I didn't select.
I hate them, I'm anxious, and derelict.

I refused to acknowledge
Your gentle cosmic touches
And the sound my heart makes when it rushes.
I refused to acknowledge
My interstellar crushes,
The fleeting, hopeful morning dew blushes.

I refused to acknowledge
This last final stanza
And forgo further rhymes
I refused to acknowledge
All of these
Because I now realize I loved you.
