"This is Amaranth. She will be the new lady-in-waiting for Princess Rapunzel. Please teach her well," said the queen with a smirk.
Amaranth gritted her teeth. The ladies-in-waiting looked at each other and started murmuring amongst themselves. The queen introducing a trainee? In person!
"Pleased to meet you all," Amaranth spat out. The head lady-in-waiting raised her eyebrows. An ill-mannered brat is to serve the princess?
"Ms. Amaranth, I don't care how good of a background you came from, I don't care how close your parents are with the majesties, you will treat everyone here with respect. Am I clear, Ms. Amaranth?" the head lady-in-waiting, whose name was Ms. Claire, said coldly. The queen nodded.
"Well, as everything seem to be in order here, I shall take my leave. Excuse me, ladies," said the queen.
"Bu-"
"Goodbye, Amaranth," the queen said firmly. She then turned on her heels and stalked out of the room.
Amaranth swallowed her complaint. Everything was going according to pl-never mind. Everything was wrong! She was suppose to be the fake Rapunzel's ma-wait. A lady-in-waiting was just like a maid, except much higher in status. Could her mother be trying to...help her?
