My four biggest mistakes as a writer:
1. Chasing other people's success instead of trying to find my own voice.
2. Not building a platform that I had control of sooner.
3. Overlooking the importance of relationships instead of serving my way into influence.
4. Not believing I was a writer, much less that I could ever been an author, until it was almost too late.
One day, though, I stopped making those mistakes, owned who I was, and got to work.
And then everything began to change.
Maybe that's all it takes for a breakthrough to happen: a choice. A simple decision to change direction.
Here's your application:
Stop pursuing what you've seen other people do and own what's yours to do.
We need you to take your craft more seriously, to reach out and help those who in need. Because you've been given a gift, and that requires you to continue being generous.
Yes, we need you to give. To serve and love and do the work that matters. But most of all, we need you to become who you are.
I hope you're ready.
