[hospital 7:33am] “okay so we are going to run so test to see how you are doing, okay Olivia” Doctor Jackson said. “Aisha can I speak to you in the hall way for a second” she added. “sure” I said. I get up and walk out the room with Dr. Jackson. “okay so we know Olivia’s past medical history but I a strong feeling we might have to do surgery” she said. “okay” I said then took a deep breathe. “but let’s not worry let’s wait till I get her tested and get results back” she said. “okay” I said. then went back in the room. I’m trying not to think about anything bad. However when I found out I was pregnant with Olivia I had the best doctors and the best treatment because I had a lot of drugs in my system from when I was back in Syria I got drugged a lot.
There was a lot in my system doctors said it’s a miracle I can walk , write and speak properly still and that my speech is perfect. I had the best treatment because doctors said Olivia could be born with heart problems, breathing problems heart deformity, brain problems, speech problems all this stuff. She was born with a brain problem which was being able to remember things and the part of her brain that tells her to breathe which is still a problem today which is why when she was three she had brain surgery and lung surgery which worked until now where she needs her inhaler to get air. I am just hoping she won’t need surgery because they would have to shave a part of her hair she will flip. Olivia has long, long thick hair that she loves she will not be happy. “everything will be okay” Jerry said. I was texting Leila she is my person, she calms me down. Olivia was watching Cartoons and eating strawberry ice cream, I don’t know why she’s just going to throw it up. “Aisha” Kathleen said. while I was waiting for the doctors to come back with Olivia they took her to get her test done. All I could think about was what Jamal said about church and building a relationship with God and stuff. “oh I have a question” I asked? “yes” Jerry asked? “why don’t we ever go to church” I asked? They looked shock. “I know it’s a random question” I said. “no, we just never made time” Jerry said, “I see, well we should change that” I said. “okay sure” Kathleen said. I got up and went to the bathroom. I texted Lexi telling her I’m probably not going to school today. [room 177] Dr. Jackson walks in the room. “okay liv put the headphones in your ears” I said. “so how is everything” I asked . I’m looking at her, her facial expressions look blank. “ugh okay, Olivia here her medulla oblongata is causing more problems than before” she said. “What’s that” Kathleen asked? “That is the part of the brain that controls breathing, heartbeat and the size of blood vessels” I said. “Exactly” Dr. Jackson said. “But I thought her problem was only memory and breathing” I said. “It was however the memory part is not the problem anymore it’s the breathing and I’m worried her heartbeat rate is going to start being effected” she said. “okay so what are the options” Jerry asked? “she can get treatment it will be painful for her and she will feel weak, the treatment should help control her breathing and heart rate” she said. “you said should, should is not will so what are the cons of this treatment” I asked? “her memory, and speech can be effected” Dr. Jackson said. I cover my face. “is there another option” Kathleen asked? “yes she could get the surgery and I strongly believe I could fix the problem” she said. “cons” I said. “I don’t fix it and she’ll flood her lungs with blood” she said. “how many times have you done this surgery” Jerry asked? “on kids 10 times on adults 14” she said. “okay can I have a second to think” I said. “sure” she said then left the room. “I think she should get the surgery” Kathleen said. “yeah I do to I just, I don’t know” I said. “Aisha she’ll be alright we have one of the best doctors in the world” Jerry said. “okay” I said I text Leila and Hassan to tell them, while Kathleen and Jerry go tell doctor Jackson. They take Olivia to the prep room she’s getting the surgery done now because she will be in the hospital for at least two weeks for recovery. They have her laying on her stomach, they have to shave a part of her hair, she is flipping out crying. “mommy” she said. “Olivia listen they have to it’s going to be in the back no one will see it” I said. “no” she yelled! “Olivia Sinclair Leone” I said she just looked at me. “please just relax” I said. she had theses big tears rolling down her face. she doesn’t understand why she’s in the hospital she just thinks she is sick. If this is how she acts just for shaving a part of her hair wait till she has to get an IV put in. after an hour goes by they finally have her in surgery. I was working on my Biology paper and studying for my History exam. Even though I finished that after two hours Olivia was still in surgery. I am walking around the hospital and I see they have a chapel I’m just curious so I go inside and sit and try to pray. I’m just looking around, I take a deep breathe. “so my name is Aisha, you probably already know that” I said. “well I know you’re a pretty big deal and I know I haven’t believed in you since I was like six, but I was wondering if you could forgive me for doubting you, I never really had much to believe in, but I am putting all my faith, hope and trust in you please protect my Darling, just please get her through the surgery without any complications and I promise I'll believe again, yeah so thank you and Amen” I said. I get up and walk back to the room. Olivia is there her head is wrapped up. “it went well I just need to wait till she wakes up to check the back of her head” Dr. Jackson said. I smile. “okay” I said.
