She just pulled me in her arms and hugged me. we went into the living room part of the hospital room Olivia’s in.“Okay everything’s to much how can we change that” she asked? “I don’t know, I don’t know anything anymore” I said. “Aisha mon amour ce qui ne va pas me dire s'il vous plaît (my love what's wrong tell me please)”she said. “Hassan broke up with me” I said. “so you guys were going out” she asked? “yeah” I said then wiped my tears. “okay why did he break up with you” she asked?

“we got into a fight about me always making decisions about Olivia and not adapting to how we are a team now and that I should just run things by him and it was so bad we were taking a break and then last night in the parking a lot Jamal kissed me, and I liked it a lot but I care for Hassan so much” I said. she took a deep breathe. “well did you try talking to him” she asked? “yeah he sent me this long text message basically saying he wants nothing to do with me and he wants custody of Olivia” I said.

“well sweetie he’ll never get custody and you guys just need to talk real have a young adult conversation and work your problems out” she said.  I’m just covering my face. “that’s not the only problem is it” she asked? “I’m trying so hard, I am messing up” I said then cried even more.

“Aisha everyone messes up my love everyone it’s just important that you learn from your mistakes” she said. we talked for another hour or so, I felt a little better but I just want to talk to Hassan.  that morning the doctors let us take Olivia home I was happy about that.

[Olivia’s room 12:23pm] “you need to sleep Olivia” I said. “can I have some water first” she asked? “yeah, I'll go get you some” I said. I go to the kitchen grab a glass up fill it with some water. I’m walking down the hallway and I’m startled by Hassan he was just standing there.  “Aisha” he said. “ugh, I have to give her water just, just wait right here” I said then walked up to Olivia’s room. “here darling” I said. “thank you” she said. I gave her a kiss on the cheek, then went back down stairs.

It’s very awkward now. We went to the backyard we walked really far my backyard is a lot of land then there is a wood area that’s where we walked to. Then I stopped walking and I stared at him, with such anger.

“what are you doing here” I asked? “don’t be rude” he said. I scoffed. “first thing we are going to talk about this custody thing then we will talk about us” I said. “fair, but what’s there to talk about” he said.  this is not going to be a very good conversation because he always stands his ground and I do as well, neither on of us ever given. We are headed.

“ there is no way in hell your taking my daughter from me, you were not here when she was born and spent two months in the hospital because she was messed up, you were not here when she was one years old and had this uncomfortable hollering problem, you were not here when she had brain surgery when she was three, you were not here when she had to take speech classes because she stuttered you, you didn’t have to go through that” I said.

“Aisha I didn’t know I had a daughter I didn’t have any communication with you, you need to stop saying I wasn’t here because I didn’t know, if I knew you know, Aisha you know I would’ve been here, and might I add you got to be with her everyday yet you had you’re her growing up thinking your parents were her real parents now how could you do that” he said. I feel so filled the frustration, “because I wanted her to have both parents” I yelled. Then covered my face with my hands.

“she deserved both parents and I didn’t know when or if I would ever see you, but don’t make it seem like I didn’t want her because God knows how much I love Olivia and might I add I was planning on telling her that I was her mom because I realized that it’s not fair for her to live a lie” I said. then wiped my tears. “I just need to be able to see her” he said. “she’s your daughter you can see her whenever you please  I said then we didn’t speak for like five minutes.
