➴ Emilia ➶I awoke when the suns rays infiltrated my curtains, rousing me from my sleep. I reluctantly opened my eyes and rubbed them slightly to rid myself of the lingering sleep that tampered with my vision. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand.
10:07 AM.
I padded into the bathroom, with a yawn, to relive my bladder and made my way to the kitchen, afterward.
I sifted through the contents of the fridge, nothing particularly tickling my fancy, so I decided to make use of Angelina's offer from last night. The food at the café her parents own is quite scrumptious and I'm guessing Ace isn't an amazing cook. I headed back to my room and shot Ange a text.
Hey, Ange. You free for breakfast at the café? - Em.
I decided to get ready while I waited for her response. I sillily sashayed over to the closet, eventually spotting a flowy white romper with a mid-section cutout that I really like. I paired it with a pair of tanned ankle boots and spritzed myself with some perfume, before I heard my phone cheerfully notify me of a text message.
Yeah, sure. I'd love to. Can we meet in 10 minutes? - Ange.
No problem. See you soon. - Em.
Great, breakfast sorted, I thought. I traipsed to the kitchen, humming Toothbrush by DNCE, the heels of my boots made a pleasant click-clack sound. Even though the food in the fridge wasn't all that appetizing, I did spot a bottle of Evian that I was definitely going to make use of– this heat was absolutely relentless. I snatched my handbag from where I left it on the couch, last night. I shivered in disgust at the memory of last night's events. Specifically the one of Ace and Redhead.
The sound of footfalls caused me to turn my attention to the hallway. 'Speak of the devil.' I muttered under my breath, stuffing the water bottle in my bag and I grabbed the apartment key from the ceramic dish on the kitchen table.
'Where are you going?' Ace yawned and strode towards me.
'Out.' I replied curtly, inserting the apartment key into a small pocket in my bag.
Ace paused, thinking for a few moments, while his annoyingly gorgeous; sparkly eyes bore into mine. 'You know what, Emilia?'
I sighed, crossing my arms. 'I have places to be and people to see, so make it quick, Semen Demon.'
He cracked a smile at his brand new nickname, and I found it hard to maintain a serious demeanor. On the inside I was high-fiving myself profusely.
'Whatever. Anyway, what I was going to say was: I think that you're just jealous.'
'Care to expand on this theory?' A teasing smile played on my lips.
'That's why you were oh so mad when you walked into the apartment last night. You were jealous of her.' His eyes burned with intensity. 'That's why you turned me down, to get back at me.'
I laughed. A real, hearty laugh at his utter ridiculousness. 'Oh, Ace.' I took a few deep breaths, to recover from my giggling bout. I stepped closer to him. 'You, need a wake up call,' I poked his chest, 'not every girl is falling at your feet to get into your pants. I'm not interested.'
Ace brow creased, as if I was speaking in a foreign language. 'You're... not interested?' then, a few seconds later, he actually chuckled.
'What's so funny? How ridiculously arrogant you are?' I countered, confused as to why he was laughing.
'Your attempts at lying are funny. I know you were just jealous and too scared to kiss me.' he reiterated.
I sighed, this guy's ego is way too big. Maybe the only thing bigger than his díck. Oops. 'Haha, that's where you're wrong, buddy. I actually have a boyfriend.' I blurted. I noticed his eyes slightly bulge and his sharp intake of breath but be quickly covered it up, his smirk and teasing ocean-blue eyes making a reappearance.
Ace quirked his brows. 'Oh. Is that so?' his signature smirk spread out, even wider, across his face. 'Let's have a double date, then. Tonight.'
My heart hammered in my chest. 'Fine. Now if you excuse me, this conversation is quickly becoming old and boring, and frankly, I have somewhere to be.'
The corners of Ace's lips turned up even more. 'Ciao, Princesa.' he bid me adieu in a sing-song voice, and I darted out of the apartment as fast as my tiny legs could carry me.
Shit. Where am I gonna get an impromptu boyfriend?

I smelled the addictive beverage wafting through the air, before I spotted the quirky café, for the first time in five years. I pushed open the cool; glass door, a little bell rung lightly to signify a customer had entered the café. I easily spotted Angelina, at the sleek grand piano playing Chopin's Etude op. 10 no. 12, her all-time favorite piece. I leaned against the doorframe, watching her talented fingers skim the keys of the piano; producing beautiful, melodic heaven. She had completely created the unique and pleasant atmosphere of the room; which is why she is so passionate about music in the first place. She has the ability to convey and influence emotion through a piece and set the mood of an environment. A minute or two later, she finished and the café applauded loudly, I shouted with praise, and made my way to Angelina's beaming visage.
I hugged her tightly. 'Well done, Ange!'
She simply rolled her eyes. 'Yeah, yeah. You're late.'
'I have a good reason.'
'Sure.' she gestured toward a reserved window table, and we sat down at the lovely spot, the sun deliciously warming my skin. 'Spill.' she leaned in to catch every detail.
[a few minutes of explaining later...]
'...and that's why I need a hot date for tonight.' I finished, taking a sip of my iced coffee.
Ange whistled. 'Well... you've got yourself into some Code Red shit, right there. I told you your big mouth would get you into trouble someday.'
I scoffed. 'Says you. You've had plenty of stalkers come your way because of your big mouth.'
'Touché, Em. Touché.'
