Arekusandā woke up to a blinding white light. He asked himself why he was still alive, he ought to be dead. Getting up, he stretched and looked around. The sky was too blue for him to still be in Kagenoyama. The buildings were very tall except for the village that surrounded the huge concrete wall in between the two. Walking out the door, a woman yelled at him. "What did I do?" "Go back to bed!" "Why?" "When you die, you must rest your soul." Murmuring to himself, "So, I am dead... But, why do I feel so alive?!" Coming around the corner of the hall, an old man, with a beard that went down to his toes, said to him, "Calm down, young man." The old man wore a black kimono1️⃣ over a black hakama2️⃣ and carried a long wooden cane. "Why, Old Man?" asked Arekusandā, suddenly remembering his father. "Don't disrespect Head Captain Yamamoto!" the woman, also in black, yelled. "No, it's alright, Captain Udahara. He doesn't know yet." "Yes, sir. I will see how my squad is going," Udahara said. "Dismissed," said the Head Captain.
"Now, will you please explain to me where I am, Head Captain Yamamoto?" Arek wanted to know. "Of course, young one. But, just call me Captain Yamamoto. You are in, what is called, the Spirit World," the man explained. "Oh gosh. I am so dead. My dad's going to kill me," Arek said to himself. "Too late," said the old man. "Not funny!" Arekusandā yelled. "Don't worry. You will grow to like it here, I promise. Especially, after you officially become a grim reaper," the old man said.
