Destined to Battle

Day 13

          What a life I have led. I was born to a family of pirates - where everyone on the Kyūbiko was family. My mom died when I was 6. I still remember it. I met a bunch of ninja. They were so cool; I had wanted to be that for the rest of life. Guess I did. In the final battle of my life, I battled with those ninja and only one survived, but it wasn't me. Now, I "live" in the Spirit world, Head Captain Yamamoto, or the Captain of Squad 1, has told me that all my life I was destined to become a grim reaper. In this world, the grim reapers fight monster called Minors. They are big monsters that have two left arms and two right arms and other than that they are super symmetrical everywhere else. Yeah, you'd think it would be all gory and DEATH, but it's not. Everyone is so nice. It's quite the place, I'll tell you that. Apparently, there are twelve squads in all - each in charge of something different. I'm only going to talk about the ones I've met though. Squad 1 is basically just in charge. Squad 4 is the hospital around here. Captain Udahara is in charge of it. Squad 10 is lead by a tall woman names Captain Shino and here boy prodigy lieutenant Maki Sentaro. Squad 11 is the scariest group but, boy are they AWESOME! They are all about fighting and that's it. For them, it's just fight till you can't fight anymore. It is lead by Captain Kenpachi1️⃣ Kusajishi, a tiny girl but, packs the biggest punch. That is all I've  heard about them so far. But, it is so hard to put it into my mind and still not think its a dream. I mean... A grim reaper. A god of death, a shinigami, Mr. Taker-of-Souls. Apparently, my clock was supposed to run out the night I left with my friends from Hanotochi. Whoever was supposed to have killed me, screwed up. So, I stayed alive long enough for the battle against Mennen Laba. At least, I can say that my companions completed their mission. I hope Nagisa is okay, after all, he was the only survivor.
          For the past week, Arekusandā had been initiated into the Spirit World School for Grim Reapers, or S.W.S.G.R., for short. Here he learned about the jobs of a grim reaper and how to handle the weapons of them. All grim reapers start out with a switch axe and once they got used to that, they can move on to a different weapon. Arekusandā heard that tough girl, Captain Kusajishi still used a switch axe. She's so powerful, she doesn't need another weapon. We'll see. It's supposed to be the scariest weapon you ever laid your eyes upon. Some of the death gods use katanas2️⃣, shuriken3️⃣, or this weapon callsd a "gun". Apparently, guns can shoot "bullets" that can hurt a person real bad. It's like using a sword from far away. Arek thought he would rather use a crossbow, though. It seemed more his style.
          He met many fellow grim reapers in his classes, some nice, some not-so-nice. There was this one guy in his energy classes that was super annoying, because he thought he was King Spirit (the ruler of the Spirit World)'s gift to reaper-kind. His name was Sylvester Wall; he was definitely built like one, at least. The guy was very big and didn't move an inch to anyone's orders, except Captain Yamamoto's. All the girls who had any sense stayed away from him, anyone else would try anything to be near him. In the classes they shared, he and Arek were the top students. Being top students have you major bragging rights, especially if you listened to the "Top Student" rule. In the Spirit World, at the school, if you have top marks with someone else, you have to battle that person on the following Friday after records have been given. This was to happen every three weeks, starting with the first week.
          "So, tomorrow I have to battle that guy," Arek thought, "I hope he is better on the field than in the classroom. He turned the corner going to his next class, bumping into a big person. "Sorry, I didn't see you." Arek said, rubbing his head. Looking up. He saw that it was Wall. "Look, little man, just give up before our match tomorrow, okay. I wouldn't want your death to be on my conscience for the rest of my life," The Wall said. "Look, man, I don't surrender to nobody. So, you can just walk out of my way." Arek said, even though the guys size really freaked him out. He had to be seven or eight feet tall. That's just not normal. "Tomorrow, I'm going to punch out your lights," S. Wall said. "I'm ready when you are, tou big chicken!" A mocked. "Don't worry; you'll get your 'just desserts'. I promise." The Wall said before hiking away.7
