By the time the pair left, their hands were full of shopping bags. Camila had bought several halter tops in a variety of colors, many crop tops, along with a few ripped jeans, shorts, a pair of leggings and a single black skirt. This was sort of a drastic change in her apparel compared to her usual knee cut shorts and plain t-shirt. Ashton bought a pair of black skinny jeans even though he has a pair for everyday of the year.
Camila dropped Ashton off at his house and returned to her own.
"Hi mom!" Camila called out assuming her mother was home, which she was.
"Hi hun, how was your day?" Camila's mother asked her the usual.
"It was great. Ashton and I went shopping today!" Camila excitedly told her, "Also when does dad come back from his business trip?"
"He comes back on Monday, but until then let's see what you bought," Her mom answered.
The first apparel Camila showed her mom were the items from Pink. She heard her mom gasp. But not in a 'You're too young for these' kind of way.
"These are so cute! Do you think I could shop there?" Her mom's eyes lit up as she spoke. Camila's mom had gotten pregnant at a young age, therefore only being nineteen years older than her daughter. They've been mistaken as sisters by their looks, but of course, her mother didn't mind the thoughtful compliment.
Camila laughed, "Of course you could."
Camila proceeded to show her mom the rest of the clothing she had bought.
"So what do you think?" Camila asked nervously.
"Well, that's definitely a change," Her mom chuckled.
"That's the point," Camila spoke in a soft tone.
"You wanted a change? Why?" Her mother asked, her eyes filled with concern.
"I want Ashton to like me," Camila answered honestly.
"You like Ashton? Oh my god I totally called it!" Her mom had exclaimed like a child.
"Anyways," Camila avoided the question not confirming it just yet.
"Cam, I'm gonna be honest with you okay? You shouldn't have to change yourself for a boy to like you. Someone who likes you will like you for you. You know that right?"
Camila knew that was completely true but it didn't stop her from wanting this change.
"I know, mom, but it just feels right for a change. I'm growing up and sometimes you just need to change it up a bit," Camila said.
"I completely agree. But as long as you're happy with it," Her mother agreed. Camila's mom had always been very supportive with her decisions whether she agreed or not. Camila was extremely grateful for that. "So, you never answered my question." A smirk formed on her mother's face.
"Um..." Camila had begun.
"Oh, come on. I won't tell him, obviously. I'm your mom!" Camila's mother had tried reasoning.
Camila quickly put her clothing back in the bags and said goodnight, and walked upstairs to her room. She changed into her pajamas and hopped into bed while staring at the ceiling. Her phone began to ring on her bedside table and she groaned. She really just wanted to rest. Shopping takes a lot out of you. Without checking who was calling, Camila answered her phone.
