"Good morning," Nick greets when he walks into the kitchen. "What are you cooking?"
"A special breakfast feast," I answer.
He comes behind to wrap his arms around my waist. It almost makes me ruin my cooking. "What are we celebrating?" he asks.
"Getting three stars on Two Lovers. I can only hope that Depression does the same," I explain.
Nick sighs dreamily. "We've known each other for a year now. We've been living together for eight months. Both of our careers are taking off. Life couldn't get any better," he murmurs in my ear.
"I bet it will," I insist.
"Such an optimist. Are you going into work today?"
"We just finished up our last take on Depression. I'll get in contact with Michael to see when I have interviews," I say. "The Dream won't begin shooting until a few months from now."
Nick is about say something when a knock comes at the door. Nick leaves to go answer it. Voices come traveling back to the kitchen. I turn around and Nick walks in with Jason.
"Hey stranger,"I say, not stopping my cooking.
"Hey, Faith. I came just in time. It smells great in here," Jason says. With his blonde hair and blue eyes, he gives off a movie star personality.
"You have such great timing when it comes to food," Nick notices.
I can practically feel him shrug his shoulders behind me. "Go and set the table," I order the two.
I bring the food out to the dining table, where Nick and Jason set up three places. I made eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, waffles, bacon, cinnamon rolls, toasts, and fried cheese. I also place a bowl of fruit in the middle and pour us all some orange juice.
Jason's mouth is watering. "Bow your heads," I say before he can dig in. He grudgingly follows. We say a quick prayer and I allow them to dig in.
"What are these?" Jason asks. He points to the balls of fried cheese.
"Fried cheese. Very traditional in my country and many others," Nick says. Jason pops one in his mouth and nods in appreciation.
"I see Nick has been keeping you around his finger like a true Greek man would do," Jason says with his mouth full.
"Oh, shut up," I say quietly.
Nick continues to eat in silence. "I'm guessing this feast is for the great reviews on your movie," Jason says.
Nick and I nod. "Figured there is something to celebrate in that," I say.
"Definitely," Jason agrees.
"So what brings you here this morning?" Nick asks Jason.
"Stopping by to say hey to my two best friends," he answers. He would do something like that. He doesn't have many friends since he expects a lot. Trust is a must with him.
"Any jobs come your way? I thought you spent your free time with family," I say. I take a sip of orange juice.
"I was planning to until I decided to stay out here a little while longer," Jason explains. "How are the two of you doing?"
"Great," Nick says. It's true. We haven't had any major arguments living together yet. It's all been one big fantasy for me.
"I'm happy for the two of you," Jason says thoughtfully. Something is bothering him. We've known each other so long that we can always tell what the other is thinking.
