Maybe one day I'll be strong enough to fly away from here

Just sprout some wings and take off

Feeling the fresh air against my face and hair

Through the clouds and trees I'd soar

Higher and higher still

Going away

As far as my magical wings will allow

But once I open my eyes reality hits

I'm not going anywhere

Not with these chains clinging to me like a second skin

When I look behind me I weep

Oh the life of a flightless bird

Craving the outside world beyond this personal prison

But grounded to this small perimeter

I look at you with woeful eyes

This baby bird isn't going anywhere anytime soon

And for now. . .

That's okay.
