JANE
I woke up at the screaming of kids at camp.
At first I thought I was having a nightmare. I was at my house, why would I hear such things that is only happening to camp. And then I remembered,
I am Home.
I am at Camp.
I hurried out of my bed when I realized that the screaming wasn't the same screams I've heard when some Cabins are trying to scare, prank and chase another, but these screams, they're real.
Frightened.
They are frightened.
I almost lost consiousness when my mind drifted to another time.
I looked around and saw everybody. All my cabinmates are here. They all have smiles on their faces, they are all holding different kinds of paper. But that doesn't matter, they are here that's what matters.
I wanted to run to them and hug them. I wanted to tell them that I was right. I was just hallucinating. I wanted to run outside, yell at all campers that they are wrong. Because we are complete.
But I can't move. I can't even feel my face. Something is controlling me. Someone is absolutely behind these things.
Now I was sure, I wanted to run. Not because I wanted to yell at them but to seek help. Everytime I try to move, every muscle in my body ache. Veins in my head are pumping like there are some miniature hearts forming there. And it hurts.
I wanted to cry but I can't.
My attention was drifted back to them when I heard Lester's voice,
"Lin, look!..." he said pointing at the paper in his hands and talking to his twin brother, Lindon. "... someone named Walt also sent me a letter."
"Really?" Lindon asked "... means we're not getting separated? That's good!"
"Yo! Cous,..." Chrisha sat beside them in their bunk bed "...guess what, I think we're not that lucky in separating that fast."
"What do you mean?" Lindon asked. Chrisha then handed him a letter, the same as theirs.
"This means..." Lester paused then smiled widely "... yey! You also recieved a letter! Yey!"
While Lester was celebrating, white smoke puffs out the right corner of the cabin, then followed by a green light and it dimmed.
I didn't mind it at first, I just thought it was just another experiment of Trisha and Finley but then Glen gasped, which was unsual by the way.
"Woah!" Glen said holding out a letter.
Another letter.
Another group.
Just then I realized that it was before they were gone.
A memory.
I remembered Percy telling me that the cabin walls can store distant memory. Happy and miserable. And it comes out when you need it.
Like now.
"Woah! Yeah that's cool." Finley said
"What does it say?" Trisha asked
"Something about being invited to a school, Glen, Finley..." Glen said "... oh wait that's the three of us. They are inviting us to a school named, Hogwarts?"
"What? HOG - FARTS?" Finley asked "... please tell me Leo's Fart gun doesn't exist there."
"Dolt! He said H-O-G-W-A-R-T-S" Trisha spelled out
"Aahhh!!" We all turned at the left window when we heard Drake shriek
"What is it, D?" Becky ran to her
"I saw... I s-saw a small man" Drake stutters, she may be a little fierce but she's the 'baby' in our cabin, with her looks she's somewhat mistaken as Aphrodite's.
"A dwarf?" Cassandra asked, "alone?"
"No there are two of them." Drake said and everything felt dizzy.
Once again, I stood alone in the middle of our lonely cabin.
I wished that what I saw weren't real. Because maybe... maybe...
Maybe that was the reason they were missing. My inner voice said.
Maybe they're not missing, maybe, just maybe they,... left. Completely.
Screaming once againd filled my ears. I remembered everything about camp.
The kids.
Once I was out of the cabin, I ran for the fields where the screamings were.
I saw the other campers forming a circle in the middle of the field. I pushed my way to be in front and see what's happening. I then realized screaming sounds wasn't from the kids.
It was from a tree. An old one. A very old one.
It's trunk is as thick as three Tyson's combined, its branches were withered, dried and dead. At first I wouldn't thought it was a tree because it has no leaves. But looking deeper, I knew it was that kind of 'century-old trees' we saw in history books.
"What is that?" Hazel walked and stood beside me
"It's a mechanical machine I just invented to create sound of awfully crying and screaming kids, mad especially for you, as an alarm clock..." Leo popped in my other side grinning "... Hazel wake up and open you eyes, it's a century-times-century-old tree"
It is true, Hazel is still asleep when she asked me that question. When she opened her eyes, it widened and she became horrified.
"What is that?" Percy whisper-screamed from behind
"It is a mechanical machine I just invented to create sound of awfully crying and screaming kids, mad especially for you, as an alarm clock..." I looked at Leo and he stopped "... Percy wake up its a tree" he then poked Percy at his cheeks and he opened his eyes fully
"Wait! My ears bleed from the sound what is happening?" Piper entered the scene followed by Jason
"Yeah bro, what is that?" Hason asked Leo
"It is a mechanical machin--" Hazel put a hand over Leo's mouth to stop him
"It's a tree." I said
"You interrupted my speech, Hazel" Leo complained
"About nothingness? Yeah sure." Hazel said and looked at the tree again
"Bad Haze--" Leo was interrupted when another loud screeching sound came from the tree.
We were all shocked when the tree moved. It rotates at a 180 degree turn to face us. As in literally face us with it's face.
The face it owned smirked.
"hey there..." It said in a voice 10 octaves higher than a screeching Aphrodite kid. "... You're looking for the lost kids? Maybe they weren't lost, maybe they just left."
