Angel’s POV
We all go to the food court and Chris insisted that he went with me to go get the food. “Before you go off, Brandi is NOT my child and I am NOT with Mo’Nique. You probably don’t remember Mo’Nique from high school because she came towards the end of junior year and Brandi is my goddaughter.” Explained Chris. That made me calm down a little bit. “It’s whatever Chris. Just funny how you can spend time with someone else’s child and not spend any time with your own.” I said.
We were next in line at the McDonalds that was in the food court. I ordered Aniya a 4-pc nuggets happy meal with a Hi-Ci, an Angus sandwich meal for Lamont, and a chicken wrap meal for myself. I paid for our food and stood to the side while Chris ordered a cheeseburger happy meal for Brandi, the 10-pc nuggets meal for Mo’Nique, and a Big Mac meal for himself. As we waited for our food, I tried ignoring Chris by getting on Instagram. I had a bunch of likes and comments on the picture I posted of Lamont and Aniya this morning. I saw the video Lamont posted of me singing and read all the comments people were leaving on there. “Wow Lamont, her voice is beautiful.” “She has a wonderful figure. Treat her right before someone snatch her up.” “What Lamont got himself a wifey nah.? I must meet her bestfriend.” I laughed at the comments and was about to get off when I noticed I had a new follower who just liked a bunch of pictures of me and Aniya. I started to ignore it until they commented saying: @BasketBall_MyLife “Damn how could I let 3years flyby of me NOT being in my child’s life. Now that I see how beautiful and big she is getting, I just hope her mother forgives me and gives me a chance to be in my daughter’s life. Forreal this time. I’m so sorry Angel for everything I put you and Aniya through.”
I looked up and he was holding the trays with our food on it. “Just because you posted that on that picture doesn’t mean I forgive you, but that little girl needs her father and I swear if you hurt her, I will personally beat yo ass, chop you into pieces, bury your body parts, and send a scavenger hunt map to your family and the police so they can find each part of your body.” I said threatening him. “Harsh much but agreed.” Said Chris. He tried to hug me but I shrugged it off. We went back to the tables and ate.
Chris’s POV
Man I don’t remember Angel ever being this evil. We sat down and gave everyone their food. Aniya hopped onto Lamont’s lap so he could feed her and that only pissed me off even more. I guess Angel noticed because she asked Lamont if she could talk to him. He sat Aniya next to Brandi and the two of them played while Angel and Lamont walked to the side to talk.
“What’s with you bestfriend? You’ve been acting really weird since we met Angel.” Asked Mo’Nique. I honestly forgot she was with us. Guess I can tell her about my plan. “Bestfriend that’s my ex Angel….from high school and Aniya is my baby girl. I told you about them before and Lamont is Angel’s boyfriend now I guess. I talked to Angel and she said she’ll let me get to know Aniya because she deserves to have her father in her life. It’s good that I get to be in my daughter’s life and all, but I’m getting Angel back. Aniya deserves to have both of her parents…TOGETHER. So I’m going to find a way to break her and Lamont up.” I said, explaining everything to Mo’Nique. She shook her head and just as she was getting ready to say something, Angel and Lamont came back to the table. Brandi and Aniya had just finished eating, Angel had pulled Aniya on her lap and pointed to me.
“Baby girl that guy over there is your daddy.” Angel said to Aniya. My baby girl looked at me then back at Angel in confusion. My daughter doesn’t know who I am. Damn that hurts Angel then goes into Aniya’s bag and pulls out this small book and showed Aniya something. She asked “do you remember this picture of this guy that mommy showed you?” Aniya shook her head yes. “Well that’s him across the table.” Said Angel. “Daddy?” asked Aniya. I guess Angel did tell her about me. “Yeah Aniya I’m your daddy.” I said.
I reached my arms out to Aniya. I was kind of nervous that she wouldn’t come to me. She looked at Angel for an answer and Angel just smiled at her. I guess that wasn’t enough for Aniya because she looked at Lamont for an answer as well. Why the hell does she need an answer from that nigga? He grabbed Aniya from Angel and said “go ahead NiNi. Go to your daddy. Mommy and I will still be right here. It’s okay.” He put her down and she walked over to me. When I picked her up, she gave me the biggest hug ever.
“Thanks Lamont. I was thinking that she wouldn’t come to me. Hey Aniya. How old are you?” I said turning my attention to my baby girl. We sat there and played for a while so Angel, Lamont, and Mo’Nique could finish eating. After they finished, we took the girls to finish looking at some animals. I took a bunch of pictures with Aniya. She bonded with Brandi as well. We were all leaving and walking towards Angel’s car, which just so happened to be across from mine. I asked Lamont if it was cool with him if Angel got in this pic with me and Aniya. He took the picture for me and Angel took my number down so we could come up with some things so I can see Aniya again. I even gave Lamont my number since it’s obvious that he’s gonna be around her daily. Mo’Nique and Angel even exchanged numbers so they could have play dates with the girls.
“Daddy picture of me and Brandi pwease” asked Aniya. I kneeled down between both my princesses, switched my camera to front cam, and took of picture of it. I posted it on Instagram saying “Had a wonderful day at the zoo with both my daughter Aniya (in the Hello Kitty) and my goddaughter Brandi (in the Minnie Mouse). Thank you to my child’s mother @MisheardPoet for allowing me to be in my child’s life despite everything I put her thru. It’s time I turn my life around so these two girls can know a good man when they see one #MyNewBeginning.”
Lamont’s POV
After Chris said his goodbyes to Aniya, I helped Angel put Aniya in the car along with her things. I was shocked when Angel told me that she was giving Chris a chance to be in Aniya’s life. It’s about time though. Since I moved back home and got back in contact with Angel, I’ve been telling her that she should give him a chance to be there for his child. He actually did well with lil mama today. I pulled him to the side while Angel and Mo’Nique got into the cars.
“Wassup man. I have to take Mo’Nique home so she can get Brandi all washed up and I know Angel has class tomorrow.” Said Chris. I straightened my composure and said “Look I know you’re happy to be in Aniya’s life, but don’t just come by every other week and then disappear. That little girl NEEDS her daddy in her life. There is only so much that Angel can teach her. Now I love Aniya like she was my own and I respect the fact that you’re her father so I’m not going to be trying to play daddy. But if you hurt Aniya, then you’re hurting Angel and if you hurt Angel, that’s where I come in. Those two were doing fine without you, but Angel needs for you to actually be here. So that shit you put on Instagram about turning your life around, make that happen in reality and not just say it for the gram.”
Chris stood there silent for a minute, shook his head letting me know he understood what I just said, and I got in Angel’s car and drove to her house.
Angel’s POV
While Lamont was outside the car talking to Chris, I cracked the window and heard everything he was telling Chris. I knew that he really cared about and loved Aniya, but I never knew that he looked at her like his own really. I love the fact that he cares enough about me and Aniya getting hurt. I went on Instagram and posted the picture of Aniya, Lamont, and I from when we first got to the zoo. It said; “Just enjoyed a day at the zoo with my two babies, Aniya and @MoneyMakin_King. My princess enjoyed her day. She made a new friend, got to spend time with both her parents, and the one man who’s been in her life constantly for the last 2yrs. Thanks for making my baby’s day Lamont & Chris @Basketball_IsMyLife.”
Lamont got in the car and we headed home. We listened to Aniya go on and on about all the animals she saw today. By the time that we got home, she was sleep. I grabbed our things while Lamont brought her into the house. He put her in her bed, while I got ready to hop in the shower. “Bae I’m about to head home and hop in the shower. I should be back in about 2 hours, so you and Aniya should be dressed and ready by the time I get back” said Lamont. I walked into the room and looked at him puzzled. “And who do you think you are and where are we going?” I asked. Lamont grabbed me by waist, pulling me close to him, and whispered “I’m taking my love and her wonderful baby girl out tonight. Oh and by the way…I’m big daddy so do as I say.” Before I could say anything he kissed me and left out. I laughed and decided to go ahead and to hop in the shower to prepare for the night.
