Chapter 6

IT WAS LANCE who insisted to drive me home after our dinner. Wala nang nagawa ang kanyang mga kaibigan kundi hayaan ito nang pumayag ako sa alok ni Lance. Muntik na naman kasi silang magkainitan ni Scarlett dahil ang gusto ni Scarlett ay siya ang maghatid sa akin. Katwiran pa nito, siya raw ang nagdala sa akin kaya dapat daw ay siya rin ang maghatid pauwi.

But I don't want to cause any trouble to them so I told them that I will be fine with Lance. So I just politely thanked Xavier for having me and said goodbye to Scarlett and Symon before we left. But it has been almost 30 minutes but no one wants to speak and the atmosphere gets more awkward. Bakit ba kasi pumayag pa akong si Lance ang maghatid sa akin?

"May sinabi ba sila sa'yo?" Lance finally broke the silence between us.

I frowned at Lance's sudden question and shifted my gaze to him. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"N-nevermind," he said then smiled, focusing his eyes on the road.

Napako ang tingin ko kay Lance habang nakatuon lamang sa daan ang atensyon niya. Kitang-kita ko mula rito ang matangos niyang ilong at ang paggalaw ng kanyang mga mapupulang labi habang sinasabayan ang kantang tumutugtog sa loob ng kanyang sasakyan. I noticed also when he brushed his medium-length hair up using his fingers and I can recall that whenever I see him, he does that all the time. Maybe it's because of his hair length but it suits him really well.

Maamo ang mukha nito at kahit mas bata siya sa aming tatlo nina Scarlett at Symon ng isang taon, mukhang kaedad pa rin namin siya. His face lit up with a smile upon turning his head to my direction. Even his smile seems so innocent and sweet, it's even contagious because his chinito eyes seem like they are also smiling. It's undeniable that he has good looks that can make every girl notice and adore him.

He chuckled and that's when I realized I have been staring at him for quite a long time. "What?" He asked, trying to suppress his laughter.

"Nothing," I replied. Knowing he can be really persistent, I tried changing the topic before he could speak again. "AB Lit din ba ang tine-take mong program?"

"No," he replied. "I'm taking Business Administration."

"I see. So how come we have the same class together on History subject?" All along I thought he was taking the same program as ours since we are classmates on one of my subjects.

"I was actually a late enrollee so I have to take that subject in a different department because there are no available classes on ours. Lahat puno na. So I decided to take History subject on Scarlett and Symon's department so I could have a chance to see them." Lance explained. He glanced at me with a wide smile on his face. "And I guess that was the best decision I have made."

Ngumiti na lamang ako bilang sagot sa sinabi niya. Ayokong mag-assume pero hindi rin naman ako manhid. Alam ko ang ibig niyang sabihin at wala ako planong i-entertain pa 'yon.

"Is your house really along the way? Baka nakaka-istorbo ako sa'yo."

"No, it's okay. It's just along the way, really." He smiled again at me.

"Mukha namang close kayong apat, bakit hindi ka sumama sa kanila? I mean, why you are not living with them?" I asked. Out of curiosity lang.

"Well, my parents thought I couldn't live all by myself so they are not allowing me to live on my own, even with the squad. They thought that controlling me would be the best thing to do."
