JERIC'S POV
"I love you" There. I said it.
Napaupo siya sa chair across me. She stared at me and said, "Ang bilis naman."
I felt like my heart was crushed into a million pieces. ANG BILIS NAMAN?
"Jeric, I'm catching feelings for you. But I dont want to jump right into it and conclude na I love you na din... Ayaw ko naman yun gawin sayo." She reached for my hand. This time, for the first time, I pulled away.
"Ang bilis naman, Portia? Ang bilis naman? What is holding you back? That guy? Ang tagal na nun. Ang tagal na nun." I was so hurt that I couldnt help the words that are coming out of my mouth.
"Hindi siya okay? Ako, ako ang pinaguusapan dito. I want to be sure that I'm good enough for you."
"Bullshit! Bullshit yan reason na yan!"
"You know I want you... now you know I love you! You know how you lift me up practically in everything I do. Tapos sasabihin mo sakin you want to be good enough for me?" Sabi ko sainyo nasasaktan talaga ko eh.
She looked shocked at what I just said. I could see it in her eyes, ang daming tumatakbo sa isip niya.
"SAY IT!!!" Because I knew she has something to say... She has a lot to say.
"I... I need time, J-Jeric." She burst into tears.
I nodded, got up and kissed her hair. I went straight to the door and left. I guess I'll have to put that recovery food on hold. I'm sure as hell I wont be able to eat after this.
As I was driving home, ang dami kong gustong itanong kay Portia. Gaano katagal? Ibig ba sabihin hindi tayo maguusap? Hindi tayo magkikita? What kind of time do you need? Space is different from time naman? Time para ma-inlove ka na ng tuluyan sakin? Or space ba na iwan muna kita?
I am overthinking. Nakarating na ako sa bahay with all those thoughts in my head. Para akong naka-auto pilot kanina habang nagddrive. Thank God I arrived safely. I pulled over in front of my house and just stayed inside the car.
I checked my phone. Zero messages. Twitter notifications.
I was expecting a text, missed call or kahit twitter mention man lang from her... Pero wala. Anyway, I checked pa din kung ano man ang updates sa twitter ko.
