A year passed and it was summer. Draco lazily slept on his bed at the burrow, until he was suddenly woken up by Ron at midnight. "Wazzit?" he croaked, obviously angry to be woken up at such an unearthly hour, but almost immediately, his eyes fluttered open when Ron mentioned 'Harry' and 'trouble'. Fred and George were outside, ready with the blue Ford Anglia.
Ron and Draco ran out, boarded the car and were off, to rescue a friend so dear to them. They reached 4, Privet Drive, Surrey, London and broke open Harry's room window. Draco and Fred helped Harry pack his trunk, and Harry grabbed Hedwig in her cage, and jumped into the car and flew off, after having a good laugh on Uncle Vernon falling into the bush below the window.
They reached the Burrow early morning, and were welcomed by Mrs. Weasley's scolding,
"Beds empty, no note, car gone!" The four of them sheepishly stood at at the door, while Harry was welcomed with a delicious breakfast of eggs and bread. While having breakfast, a pair of hands suddenly closed Draco's eyes. "Hermione!" He shouted, and all of them hugged her.
"When did you get here? Ron asked her. "Just now." she replied, "Mum and Dad are going to Australia for a dentist conference, and they said that they didn't mind me spending the rest of summer at the Burrow with you guys. When did you get here Harry?" She asked.
"Huh, long story. I will tell you later." Harry replied obviously noticing how Ron, Draco,Fred and George had suddenly become still as statues at the question. They all had a laugh at breakfast, and the day went normally.
The next day, Draco woke early and went to the kitchen after brushing his teeth. There, he saw Hermione making breakfast, and went over to her and said, "Good Morning!"
"Good Morning Draco!" she replied, and took out a packet that said 'Pancake mix'
"What's that?" He asked her. "Pancakes! They are a popular Muggle breakfast. Today's Harry's birthday, and I thought to treat you all to a delicious Muggle breakfast!" she said. "Sounds interesting, will you teach me?" Draco asked her, and she smiled and nodded. The next one hour filled the kitchen with laughter. And finally, the pancakes were ready. Everyone lauded Draco and Hermione for their hard work and the mouthwatering breakfast, and together, the Weasleys and Draco and Hermione gave Harry the most memorable birthday ever.
Draco was happy. Happy that he had such wonderful friends, happy that he had finally found a place so far away from his despotic father and his followers, and for once, since the Sorting Ceremony, he didn't regret being sorted into Gryffindor.
