Later That Night
Emily POV
I looked around from our spot on the couch at everyone either dancing, drinking, talking or making out. The only thing that diverted my attention away from everyone was Alison who spoke with such fear in her voice that I got worried.
"I didn't think it'd be this intimidating."
I sigh and shrug, "well that's what you get when you mix hormones and alcohol. Can we get out of here yet? If we leave now, we can still catch that 9 o'clock movie you wanted to see?" I nudge her playfully but my blonde friend didn't even bat a smile.
"No. We have to stay! Emily, this could be our key into popularity!" She gasps when she gets bumped aside by a girl at our school making out with some dude. "God everybody is so much sluttier than they are at school..."
She is pushed further and ends up on my lap, only making me chuckle and say, "get a room guys."
I slide over and set Alison down to my left instead, receiving a grateful smile from her. "Can we go now?" I push for her to agree but her eyes wander, then freeze. "Um...we just need to relax."
She takes her jacket off of her shoulders and smiles at me gently, "you know what would help? Alcohol. I'll get us some-" "No Ali wait!" I try to grab her but she is already out of the room.
My eyes do a full on roll but then set themselves on Charlotte Drake as she walks in, "everyone's wearing too many clothes! Damn, that's better." She winks at a topless girl and slaps her ass, making me groan and roll my eyes.
Charlotte POV
"Hey Juny B Jones. Why aren't you dancing?" I say as I walk up to one of my friends Spencer Hastings and she goes to speak but is cut off by- "nice house. What's the square footage?"
I smirk and observe Hanna Marin's outfit, "I don't remember inviting you Marin."
Behind her is who I recognize as Sean Ackard, a jock from our school and she tilts her head with her fake, sarcastic smile. "You should be thanking us for being here rainbow. Look at all of these...poor, needy souls in desperate need of my attention and love."
"The man said shoo. I'm sure there's a puppy somewhere for you to kick Hanna," Spencer shoots and Hanna scoffs, "the man?"
"Yeah. That's me. It's called being a tomboy. Got a problem sexy legs?" I smirk and lean into her more, only to have her back away more.
"Whatever. But we're not leaving. We're the front runners for homecoming King and Queen so the people expect us to make an appearance. Duh."
"No one here cares about that outdated patriarchal stupid tradition." I look at her with a dark glint in my eyes and she scowls, "sure they do. They're just pretending not to. You see there's a natural order to High School and Homecoming elections are one of them. And this school is the most unnatural thing I've ever seen. But it's okay! I'm here now, and I'm gonna set things straight." Her eyes squint menacingly at me as she smirks, "pun intended."
"Sean. Let's go," she drags him away and he chuckles nervously, "see ya Charlotte. Spencer."
I scoff, "she can't do that, can she?"
"She's delusional Ce, don't let her get to you."
"Unless it's her pussy," I comment and chuckle, "damn she's sexy as hell."
"And a bitch!"
"Whatever. She's in denial," I say and wink at Spencer who only rolls her eyes at me and drinks her beer.
