The moon smiles alone

The kids at my school,
told me I am a freak,
tried to make me weak.
They kept trying for ages to make bow,
but I never let it show.
They tried to break my inside.

The cage I stored my temper in was locked since ages.
One day I got the courage to ask them why they did so,
and they said its because I read all pages
These words I could throw or keep
But the mask i wore was weak,
my eyes filled with ease.

That sleepless night,
I was filled with strange fright,
looking for light,
my eyes studying the cracks of dried paint on my bedroom ceiling.
Father told me I can cry when alone,
so I did.

Somewhere around midnight,
I got up and stepped outside.
When I look down I feel as if I am among dust,
when I look up I feel among lust.
although I know,
with life, even iron becomes rust.

As I stare at the night sky I remember,
a thought from my mother,
she told me I was like the moon,
different and alone,
but, nonetheless,
the brightest among all.

I stared at the moon standing alone,
I wanted to find water on it and call it my home.
The moon had no friends,
but still no broken ends.
It did not fit in, but it didn't try,
following its footsteps, so didn't I.

The moon had learned to smile alone.
Below the moon, within that hour,
I turned all my pain into power.
I had no another,
but I know that as I grow,
I will only become stronger.

I knew that with my pain comes my power,
just how you trade money for material.
The moon was imperial.
I should not cry, I shouldn't worry why,
all I have to do is try.
To the moon I said goodbye.

I walked back home,
as bright as the coming day.
In my head I drew a simple way,
the way fate drew for me,
so that with time,
I can be free.
