The Shadows Speak

I can't stop running. I keep chasing the dark figure, hearing Leo behind me. Finally, after about a minute, the shadow falls and I see my chance. I grab my axe and I swing it above my head. "Alright, you scum," I say in a deep voice. "Show yourself!"
Leo finally catches up to me, catching his breath. I hear footsteps, so I look around and everybody is outside, even Gwen. I turn back to the stranger. I glare at them and threaten them again. "Show your face or I will kill you!" I yell, not loud enough to attract a herd. Leo puts a hand on my shoulder. I look back at him. "Calm down sis," he says quietly. "I don't think they mean any harm-" I shake his hand off my shoulder. I look back down at the person as they take off their hood.
It was a girl, a pale looking girl with dark grey eyes. Her face looked small, and she seemed around 17-18 at the oldest. When she got her good fully off, I saw that she had dark purple hair and blonde tips. She had small scratches, and even though the long jacket made her look big, I assumed she was lanky and skinny. I got off of her and she stood up cautiously. She must've been around 5'8, taller than me. She looked down at me, or at least my axe, with fear.
"P-please," she said in a timid British accent. "I don't mean any harm. I'm just a survivor." I look at her, axe still gripped tightly. As I was about to say something, Leo cut in. "Who are you," he asks. "And why are you here?" She looks up at Leo, shaking. His deep voice could scare people, but she seems more scared by me. What can I say? I'm scary. She stutters again. "M-my name is L-Lisette. And I-I'm here b-because I'm t-trying to find my friend.." I look up at her face closely. Sweat rolled down her face slowly, and fear in her eyes grew. I sigh as I bring the sharp edge of my axe down to the grass. Leo asks, "You gotta weapon?" Why would he ask a stranger that? "Leo, don't just ask folks if they have weapons," Mr. Parker replies. "Besides, I'd assume everyone now a days carries a weapon."
Lisette sighed. "Well, not everyone does," she says, looking at the ground. Suddenly, another rustling can be heard. Ed prepares his gun and aims. Another tall figure comes out, only its taller than Lisette. He walks towards us from the bushes.
"Lisette, where have you-" he stops in tracks when he sees us, weapons in our arms. "Oh." Was all he could say. The boy had darker skin than Lisette, a light chocolate-brown color, and bright green eyes. He had a red beanie and a white shirt, the bottom of it splattered with dry blood. He wasn't as skinny as the girl, but just as close. He took out a switch blade from his black jeans. "Who the hell are you people?" He asks in a rough tone. He gets in front of Lisette.
"Calm down, boy," Roger replies in a confident tone. "We weren't planning on hurting your princess. Why are you both running around on our property?" The boy sighed, keeping the knife up. He looks up at Roger.
"We're here because our group left us," he explains. "Lisette and I are cousins. She came to America with her family. When this whole thing happened, her boyfriend, who she came with, got infected. So I stayed with her." While the boy was explaining, Lisette lowered her head a little. That poor girl. "Anyways," he continued. "We met up with a group of five people, two people my age, one adult, and two kids. We all seemed good until a herd found us. Cliff notes version, we got separated and ended up here."
Lisette was still quiet, hiding behind the boy. "The names John, by the way," he concluded. I hear Mr. Parker sigh as he comes closer. "Listen, you two," he begins. "I don't think you guys should wander around. You two can stay the night." That's when Tony stood straight up, as I could hear his marching steps right next to me. "Oh come on George," he groans in a disgusted tone. "We can't let every stranger come in the house!" I look back at him, annoyed once again by him. "Well, I guess you shouldn't be here then, huh." I replied with a smirk.
He stares at me as I look back at the two cousins. "You should stay the night," I say, agreeing with Mr. Parker. They both nod, John putting the knife in his pocket. "Can we trust you?" John asks, as Lisette gets closer to him. I nod and smile. They both smile back, and I lead them to their beds- or, couches. I'm not sure what to expect, but all I can hope for is that we can all stick together. And yes, I'm sadly including my dad Tony as well. Everyone walks in and Gwen follows me upstairs when Lisette and John get comfy. Mr. Parker and Tony stay outside to guard as Leo and I go to our rooms. Gwen sleeps with me for the night. I close my eyes with mere hope that we'll be okay.
