One day later, Laura POV

As I rode in the town I looked around. It was fairly familiar to me because I had come before with Pa. I rode to the sheriff's office and tied Bunny to a post. When I walked in, there was a tall, rough looking man.

"Excuse me, sir.."

"What can I do for you kid?"

"I'm looking for the children's home."

"Go down about a half a mile and turn right. You'll find what you need."

"Thank you, sir." I walked out and climbed on my horse. Then I began riding towards the orphanage.

Charles POV

We came to sleepy eye and I stopped by the sheriffs office. He walked out.

"Hey Charles, what brings you my way?"

"I'm looking for my daughter, Laura, I thought she might come here."

"Yeah, I saw her. Wanted to know where the orphanage was so I showed her. She should still be there, it's only been about ten minutes."

"Thanks John." I rode as fast as I could to the orphanage."

Laura POV

I knocked on the door. A tall man with grey hair opened it.

"Hello young lady, what can I do for you?"

"I was wondering if we could make a deal."

"What kind of a deal?"

"If I came to work here for you as a maid, you could send a baby boy to my Pa. He wants a son real bad."

"But doesn't your Pa need you too?"

"See, Pa had a son. And he doesn't know it, but my brother died because of me. So I'm here to make it right."

"Well, I'll see what I can do." He took my hand and started to walk in."

"Stop right there!" Said a loud voice. It was Pa. Oh no, now my plan would be ruined.
