Rene:

As soon as we had safely made it into the building, I let out a breath of relief. I heard Jake do the same.

I punched him on the arm and smiled slightly. "We did it."

He chuckled, "We made it through the walk."

"Next step, class one. We need to go in to the office to get our schedules and stuff, come on."

We walked into the office and went up to the desk. When we reached it the lady behind it looked up with a smile, which faded as soon as she saw me. I ignored it.

"We're the new students and we need our schedules. Rene and Jake Pennsal?"

"O-oh right of course. Yes let me get them." She scurried off into a room and when she came out again she held two pieces of paper in her hand.

"Um here is," she studied one of the papers, "yours Jake and here is yours Rene."

Jake smiled as she handed his to him. I, however, did not.

"Right, well. Thanks." I started towards the door but she stopped me.

"Um actually Mrs Colbat would like to see you. You know since it's your first day and all."

"Of course. Where is he?" Jake answered before I could get a chance to say some smart remark about needing to go to class.

"Just through that door," she smiled at us, "it should only take a few minutes so you won't be too late to tutor class.

I rolled my eyes. Tutor class had always been such a waste of time. Jake walked into the office and I followed him.

"Ah! Raine and Jake, welcome to Westfield High! Come, sit down." My eyes turned to a middle aged lady, with her hair tied tightly up into a bun and a pair of round glasses framing her face.

"It's Rene." I said as I sat down. I heard Jake stifle a laugh as I said this. I sighed internally when I realised he would be calling me Raine for the next month and a half.

"Oh of course, sorry dear." The principle looked under her desk and pulled out a big file. She flipped through it, asking us about GPAs, activities, etc from our previous school. She then pulled out a map and explained the way the class numbers worked and how to find them. It was pretty straight forward. Just as we stood up to leave she looked at me and frowned.

"Rene, I understand that this is your first day and maybe things were different at your old school, but we do have a dress code. And that outfit does not fit it." She handed me a small paper cover book which read 'Rules, Regulations and Dress code' . "Please read this and wear something that fits the rules for tomorrow." She smiled and I smiled sarcastically back.

"Sure thing, Mrs Colbat." And with that I left the room and walked out of the office, dropping the book into the bin.

I heard Jake thank the principle and receptionist whilst he hurried to catch up to me. Once we were out of the office and the door had closed we burst out laughing.

"We should get to class." Jake said after we had stopped laughing. I peered over at him and he looked as though he was going to be sick. I squeezed his hand.

"You'll be fine. Just don't take shìt from anyone and make some friends." He frowned at me.

"You won't be looking to make friends."
