As the days went on, Kageyama found himself doing late shifts at the aquarium, wanting to speak to the beautiful merman as much as he could. He wanted to know everything about the creature, as well as its people and how they lived. Sugawara was fairly timid at first, barely speaking and mostly tracing letters near the top of the tank against the fog of his breath. Though it seemed once it had warmed up to Kageyama, it spoke, allow him to absorb the knowledge and the sound of his melodic voice.

"I was captured from the Yellow sea, though as it was mating season it was a a trip, I originally come from the Barents sea. It's a lot colder up there but it's truly a beautiful place."

Using his phone, Kageyama had looked these both up, nodding as he understood what Sugawara was talking about. Guess that was how the blue finned creature had ended up in a Japanese aquarium, they probably had to pay a pretty price for him too. He looked down at Sugawara from the ladder, the creature noming on a piece of fish that he had provided. Even though he mostly took the late shifts because of Sugawara, he never left any of the other merpeople out, learning their names and where they were from. Their tails usually matched the temperature of water they came from. A green tailed mermaid named Kiyoko came from the waters near Australia, while a younger merman by the name of Yamaguchi had migrated around the same time Sugawara did, however it came from the Indian ocean and had a tail as red as blood. Yamaguchi was seemed a lot more awkward than Kiyoko or Sugawara and barely spoke to Kageyama. There was one more mermaid, it did not speak to Kageyama at all but Kiyoko was able to provide a name. Yachi. Its tail was as yellow as its hair; however, the rest were unsure of where she came from. However shy Yachi might have been, it ate much more than the others.

"She does not even speak to us, do not feel left down by it. Perhaps one day she will come to trust us. I understand however, she was only recently placed here, before you came to work here."

Sugawara had smiled warmly as he spoke, his eyes no longer carrying the emotion Kageyama had first seen when they met. Even so, when it came to open hours, he never looked at any visitors. This made Kageyama feel a little special, it seemed they trusted him, well, three of them did.

As this night came to an end he climbed down the ladder, having written down some things that may help him develop a plan to free the merpeople. He noticed quickly as he climbed down that Sugawara looked saddened, though did not yet voice why. Kageyama raised a brow and bit and moved over to the tank, Sugawara noticing this and perking up. The merman pushed himself over the side of the tank, looking down at him.

"Are you staying a little longer?"

"No ... I'm sorry."

Sugawaras bright expression dropped and he slowly slipped back into the tank. Feeling bad, he placed his hand against the tank, blushing as the merman did the same, lining their fingers up. Sugawara also blushed, looking a little taken back but also, very happy.

"I'll see you tomorrow, I promise."

The merman nodded and pressed his forehead against the glass, his eyes closed as he smiled widely. Kageyamas cheeks got warmer as he smiled back, realizing now why he seemed so passionate about trying to help this merman and the others. He had fallen for Sugawara, another creature from a whole other world.
