We went straight home after we bought the ring Jacklyn had showed me. It was the reddest stone I've ever saw, and it was in the shape of a rose. The loop for the finger was a black metallic. Oh, so beautiful. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen in Durexon.
I opened the door with my key card Viki had given me and we giggled as we ran up the stairs and into our room.
Jacklyn was so happy, the best I've seen in years. And I was happy I gave her hope. But everytime I thought of seeing her happy, always made me think of how little I've seen her smile, than that made me think know of our past horrible life, then that made me think of our parents, then our mother.
I killed her. I was a murderer. I will always carry that with me.
It took me a few moments before I noticed I was shaking. Ugh, I hate feeling sad. I shook off the thoughts and looked over to Jacklyn who placed her ring in her jewelry box along with her dragon necklace Belle made for her. The box was nicely placed by the pink lamp on the nightstand. I smiled.
"I'm back!" I heard from downstairs. Belle. She was back from school.
Jacklyn turned to me and smiled. I returned it. I was glad Belle was back.
Jacklyn and I ran downstairs. Belle shut the door as we just touched the last step.
"Hey," Jacklyn and I said in unison.
She turned back around, her curls bouncing with life. Ah, she looks as beautiful as always. Okay, that sounds a little gay.
...um let's not enter that talk.
Anyways. She ran a hand through her hair. "Ugh, so much homework in one day," she groaned.
She threw her bag on the couch. "I'll finish it later," she said. "So what did you girls do today?" She smiled at us.
I opened my mouth to say something but Jacklyn interrupted.
"We went walking. We went to the toy store. And went to the store Joyous Jewels." Jacklyn said happily. "I got a jewelry box and a ring," she squealed, squeezing my arm.
Belle laughed, "Fun."
We stayed talking for a bit more before we went in the back yard to play with the neighbors kids. We had stayed outside until 8 o'clock, when the sky shadowed different colors like fireworks.
Viki had came home and me and Belle took our shifts at 9. I wrapped my carmel colored apron around my waist and we ran to the shop together.
James burst in through the glass doors ten minutes late, but Belle let him off easy.
It was midnight and by that time about twelve people showed up. Quite afew late night snackers. Well, this is only one of the few cafès open past 10. And it's like the best place.
James really made me question what a fifteen year old kid had to do a night shift till midnight for. I wonder if he went to the highschool.
"Oh sorry!" I jumped at the sound of a dish crashing to the tile floor.
I jerked around and saw Belle on the ground in a puddle of donuts and a bowl of glaze, James was hunched over the counter holding his glazed self against the counter.
"I'm sorry. Oh, I'm so stupid. Sorry." He bent down and helped Belle get up.
I set down my paperwork and was about to help them but I saw a spark between Belle and James, and I stopped. The way they looked at each other was more than just an apology. Well at least it was the way James looked at Belle.
