In history they are learning Greek history because their teacher has some sort of boredom with American History. Emmett gets it, he's been learning it for the past hundred or so years. Nothing beats hypocritical old white men throwing temper tantrums because they aren't happy with what had been given to them.

"Lou you have a Eastern European accent don't you?" Mrs. Murphy asks in the middle of her tirade about how ancient history is better than more recent history.

"Yes, I'm from Greece." Lou had been staring off into space during a majority of the lecture. Emmett's attention is also caught because anything that could help figure out what she is he needs to know.

"Did you move from there? What part did you grow up in?" Mrs. Murphy asks interested. The entire class, frankly is interested in anything that had to do with Lou. She doesn't talk to anyone and is becoming a mystery to the other students.

"I bounced around to different parts until I moved away." Leucosia can't actually give an answer because the island she grew up on is 'uninhabited'.

Mrs. Murphy continues her rant about ancient history starting on the Greek aspects. Emmett starts thinking about the new information and how it affects everything. If Lou is from Greece, then does that mean she is a Greek monster? Emmett doesn't know much about Greek mythology to try and brainstorm what she could be.

So, like any other good student, Emmett asks the question that would only prolong the lecture. "Mrs. Murphy how much of the mythology was actually part of the history?"

The seemingly never ending lecture on mythology began and Emmett could feel eyes trying to burn a hole into his head. Emmett looks directly at Leucosia, making eye contact with her. She wasn't glaring at him in the slightest, she looks more like she's confronting someone whom she caught being shady. Like she knows Emmett knows that she knows his question is about her.

Mrs. Murphy then got started on asking student their favorite Greek myth so she could do lesson plans because the Mythology unit is coming later in the year. Emmett said the labyrinth, and watched a few students later, the bitter expression wash over Leucosia's face when someone said their favorite are the Muses. Emmett wonders what Lou vendetta has against the Muses.

"My favorite are the sirens." Lou says without a second thought.

~

"She said the sirens?" Carlisle asks typing 'sirens' into Google.

"Yeah, that's what she said" Emmett nods thinking back to the class.

"Okay here's something. Sirens were three women who lured sailors to their death with a bewitching song. Mythology says the Sirens were cannibals and ate the men they lured onto their island. They were handmaidens of the goddess Persephone. When the goddess was abducted by Hades, Hera gave them the bodies of birds, and sent them to assist in the search. They eventually gave up and settled on the flowery island of Anthemoessa. Sirens are the daughters of a river god.

"Texts mentioning sirens have different opinions on their number and their names; some mention two or three; others mention more. Sirens were believed to combine women and birds in various ways. In early Greek art, Sirens were represented as birds with large women's heads, bird feathers and scaly feet. Later, they were represented as female figures with the legs of birds, with or without wings, playing a variety of musical instruments, especially harps. The term "siren song" refers to an appeal that is hard to resist but that, if faller under, will lead to a bad conclusion." Carlisle looks up skeptical.

"Well she definitely doesn't have wings." Alice shrugs.

Emmett can't help but agree with that. Lou definitely doesn't have wings of any kind, and he hopes she doesn't have bird legs either. "You said there are at least three? What are the names?"
