I woke up in the middle of a cool dark night. Bright stars shine overhead as I look down the valley way. I yawned and laid my head back down on my mom's soft belly. But I did wonder what had woken me from my deep sleep, but as I thought about this I was already fast asleep.
The next morning I felt off. I was jumping at every little shadow and noise that happened to reach my ears. Every time I jumped I yipped like a coyote getting nipped by a bird. My mom kept trying to calm me down but nothing had worked so far.
But today was the big day. My mom was taking me on my first hunting trip into the forest. But I was very tired from the late encounter, so I laid down in the sun by my favorite willow tree beside the fast flowing river. Sun glistened off my pure white coat as I rested looking at the fish swimming by, one of my brothers came up to me. Kova, he was a rily pup with blaze blue eyes like me. With a brindle black look to his fur like dad did. He was very strong for a young puppy and wasn't afraid of anything until it bit him.
"Hey! Amika! How's it going little sis?" He said as he trotted over to me on the stepping stones. "I was trying to take a nap." I snarled at him and he only gave me a playful look. "Aw come on sis. Let's go wrestle or play with that balled up root that me and Ujo found by the..." He stopped mid-sentence and shifted his eyes back and forth. I looked suspiciously at him," by the what?" "Nothing!" He barked as he stumbled to run, but I got up and pounced like mom taught me to." Found. By. What?" I said as I held him down by the shoulders. He was struggling to get up but I held him down, he was nervous I could tell because he couldn't get up even with me holding him down.
"I told you nothing!" He yelped as I pushed my paw on his face. "Tell me now!" We struggled for at least another minute until he gave up...finally,"ok ok sis lay off now, I'll tell you." I did a backwards bounce and almost stuck the landing, I stumbled but caught myself." Wow watch yourself there little sis." I looked grumpy at him,
"ok so Ujo and me were hanging out by mom and I wanted to wrestle with Ujo, right. But he didn't want to wrestle with me! So I sort of pounced on him any way we tumbled down the hill and rolled right into Innoissaan," whoa! Guys slow down!." She yelled at us so we quickly got up and shook of the dirty dirt on our coats. Well anyway she told us about this cool place she found by the woods, she said it was filled with little bones and sometimes little thin pieces of fabric that have metal on them. So as you know we went there and found this balled up root thing that kind of smells weird but it is fun to play with even for Ujo. But there was a lot of feathers there was big ones small ones all sorts anyway I got to go almost sun high, it's my turn to play with Rujo. BYE!"
He ran off like the wind and jumped up the stepping stones to the cave where Rujo was lying. Rujo was the runt of the litter. He was very small and couldn't stand on his own, but he could swat better than all of us. He had brown fur mixed with drops of black and streaks of white. All of us had blaze blue eyes, except for him he had deep green eyes like dad did. We all took turns playing with him since he couldn't leave the cave. Mom said that he would get better as he grows but day by day I noticed he has been getting worse
