Limping up a mountain is hard work. First you have to get a really good grip on the legs that aren't injured and pull your bad limb up, second you have to be strong to haul your body over the ridge and start the process over again with another ridge.
"Ugh! This sucks." I said as I continued to climb up the slope. It seemed a lot easier to go down rather than up. But I keep going trying not to fall again. And every time I missed a ledge my heart skipped a beat, flashing back to the fall. I breathed deeply and continued.I finally made it to the top, tired from the climb I layed down and chewed on a bone from last night's dinner. A big caribou femur, my favorite part of the entire animal.
I heard heavy breathing heading towards the cave. I looked up from my bone and laid low to the ground. Four small paws clicked against the rock as the stranger repeated," oh jezz, oh jezz, oh jezz!" I have never heard this voice before, I drew back my ears and did my low threatening growl making sure to show as much teeth as I could.
A young male wolf pup bolted into the cave completely overpassing me. He looked as if he just escaped a hunter. His black coat was caked with mud . His paws seemed a little bit over ran, like he never rested or at least did a full rest. His deep aqua eyes wild with fear. But the most noticeable thing about him was the bullet hole straight through his ear. The wound look fresh.
He slid off the wall and collapsed on the stone. A deep sigh can from him before he broke into a million pieces and sobbed uncontrollably."No no no no noooo. Henki noooo, it's my fault. My fault. My fault. My fault..." He continued this chant while he cried for this Henki pup and occasionally his mom.
I started to get annoyed and looked down the valley, Ujo was still playing his game. But next to them the leaves rustled as my mother walked with Kova, carrying a deer with them. I looked over at the pup," Um stranger you better leave before my mom and big brother come back." His head shot up and his eyes widened like he was surprised I was in the cave with him. He looked down at his paws with embarrassment. He then looked up in a cool fasion,"Well lets see what they can do then."
I rolled my eyes and layed my head back down. I was fine if he stayed in the cave so would my mom, but I knew if kova saw him he would flipped out and resort into show off mode. He would start growling and doing dumb useless stuff such as, digging really big holes, marking everything, the one I find annoying is when he becomes way over protective. He becomes suspicious of anyone and anything. One time when a young pup rested in the cave for the night, kova became suspicious of the fur she left behind!
Now I'm worried that if another young pup stays here and it's another male pup, his show off mode triples or even quadruples. But by the time I finished this thought mom was in the cave walking backwards while Kova pushed the deer from behind." Hello mother! How was the trip?" I asked trying to distract them from the pup." Oh it's was fantastic young one! We also passed by your favorite moss bed, and a deer was standing there eating the moss. But now it's eating moss in the spirit realm." The moment mom said spirit the stranger pup broke into tears and sobbed a little bit to loudly.
"Henki! Ohhhooooooooooo!" He howled, my mom then whipped her head around as Kova's jaw hit the stone. She blinked a few times, probably to see if she is not hallucinating. Kova snapped out of it and slowly started walking towards the pup."stand up and tell me who you are and why you are here, or i'll rip your paws off!" Kova stood tall and proud, towering over the slightly smaller pup. The pup just gave kova a challenging look.
"hey hey heyyy there mate, I'm no threat. I mean what could a small little pup do against a brute like you. But what do I know? I only battled 5 alphas in my life. Let's make tha-" "ok mr.crazypaws i'm going to have to stop you there." I interrupted him before he became a fur pancake,"how about let's make that not happen and be nice? Ok Kova and...what's your face?" Mr.crazypaws grunted and smirked," Ok first off the names not mr.crazypaws, it's Hauska. Second I was being nice....I'll only comply if....kopa was it? Does not kill me in my sleep. Capece?"
"Ugh, mom! Do something we don't even know this guy!" Kova looked at mom, but she just looked at me and said,"Amika you decide, you are old enough an-KOVA back off!" Kova was snarling at Hauska, he then looked at mom and very slowly walked out of the cave,"haha kova will subject either way Amika, if you have to force him to comply do so but if you wish for Hauska to leave that is your choice." She then walked out of the cave, she looked back at Hauska and smiled.
Hauska looked at me sideways and gave me the puppy eyes," Oh shut up over there!" I barked. "But I didn't say anything! Plus if you let me stay I'll keep you company, it's better than being alone in this madding cave all by yourself." He had a point, that would of been a pun if half of his ear wasn't blasted off. "Ok ok you can stay for as long as you need." After I finished my sentence he jumped up and yipped happily," haha yeah! Boooyaaaa, haha!" "But on one condition! You don't pick fights with my brothers or sister. Got it?" I stared at him intensely but his fun loving gased stayed with his celebration,"got it coach!" he then bolted out of the cave entrance.
I smiled as I watch him greet everyone mostly with bows and tail wags. When he went up to Innoissaan she ran around him countless times and finally after about a minute she stopped and pat Hauska on the head. I walked back to the cave and laid down next to the femur I was chewing on. I remembered the dream I had, how much Hauska looked like the strange pup I saw in my dream.
