Friends and Fresh Air

Neil, Pete, and I became great friends. Ever since that first day of school, we were the little trio who couldn't be separated. Now we were 10 years old. Time just seemed to pass by in our little lives in NewBegin. Nature mornings were the usual and birds were our wake up call. School was the highlight of our days where we could meet up regularly. School wasn't a drag, not at all.

Our passions and ambitions got the best of us. We would hang out after school and review every single thing we learned. We even practiced with each other.

It wasn't long when the teachers were really impressed about what the three of us could do. As a matter of fact, we were the best in the class. In fact, I think we were the only ones who really wanted to learn. Of course, as children, we liked to have fun too.

Outdoor games were our fun. We even added school materials within them in the process. We would play games of war, battle, and escape. One time we were playing a game of kingdoms.

I was representing Fatenturia, Pete was Greanger, and Neil was Alleyal.

"Hi-Ya!" Pete yelled.

"Take that!" Neil grunted.

"Think fast!" I laughed as I attacked them with my wooden sword.

"Oh yea..! Take this!" Neil yelled.

I blocked his swing and diverted a hit to his abdomen.

"Hahaha! Got you!"

Crack!

All three of us stopped in silence. Neil began patting around hit stomach with his hands. I glanced at my wooden sword.

"That wasn't the sword guys." I mentioned and then twirled my head around.

"And it wasn't my stomach..Did you hear that?" Neil whispered to Pete.

"Yea." Pete replied.

We hushed and huddled closer to each other.

"Let's go look." I bent low and placed my left foot out. I signaled my fingers with my fingers.

"No!" Neil gasped quietly. He grabbed me by the skirt and I turned around.

"Oh, come on. It's probably just an animal." I said.

"No, I'll go." Pete said.

"No, I will." Neil shoved.

"Guys seriously, stop fighting. Or else..I'll go." I smiled ready to jump into adventure.

"But you're a girl." Neil whispered.

"So.."

"You could get hurt." Pete said.

"I thought you guys know me already! I'm not scared!"

"But.." Neil said.

"You know what, I'm going...you guys take forever." I stomped swiftly away from them heading towards the sound.

"Wait! Angel!" Neil yelled once more.

Snap. Crunch.

"Waaahh!! Angel!" Pete yelled.

I ignored them and boldly went.

"Wait! Angel!" I yelled out my arms extending as if to grasp Angel even if she was out of reach. Snap. Crunch. What was that?

A sudden loud yell came from Pete. A cry for help.

Pete!

"Angel!!!" Pete managed to yell.
