My heart caught in my throat at the sight of him, at his presence, at his smile. He was a glowing the dark, lighting up the yard in his tight circle of friends. They all gathered around him, looking eager and pleased like little puppies. He was laughing, but it wasnt a real laugh. His eyes were distant, searching the crowd as he ran a hand through his thick hair.
Then our eyes locked and he stopped laughing. The yard grew quiet, and I saw him mouth 'move'. The group split open like the Red Sea, and all I could do was stand there and let Trevor pull me farther and farther away from the party. But all the while, as I moved away from him, Joey came closer and closer, his walk breaking into a jog, then a run.
Finally, he sprinted to us, his concerned gaze changing into one of...
Anger?
"Move!" Joey yelled at me, his eyes searching for something that obviously wasnt there.
Trevor turned, locking eyes with Joey. They stood there, Trevor unnaturally taller than Joey - which was a little creepy if I may add - yet Joey still stood there, chest to chest with him. Trevor's eyes were dark and cold, something you rarely saw in happy-go-lucky Trevor Survim.
"Have a problem, Truman?" Trevor growled in Joey's face.
I suddenly began to here lots of footsteps approaching, and taunting whispers of if there was going to be a fight or not, or if they were fighting over me.
"Don't bullshit me Survim, you know what Im here for."
"Say it, punk. No one will believe you anyways," Trevor smirked, whispering the last part.
Suddenly I heard sprinting footsteps, and looked over to see Der running over. He dashed through the crowd, grabbing me and pulling me into the ring that surrounded the boys, and into his arms.
That certainly squashed some of those rumors.
"Wanna be an ass, Trevor?" Joey laughed, shrugging in a mocking way. "Okay. You attacked my little sister, and now-" Joey gestured to me, "You're going after SADIE? You douc-" All of a sudden, Trevor reached out and shoved Joey into the wall. Then there were fists flying.
And lets just say fighting isn't my thing.
"Der, can we go?" I began, my voice choking. Derek squeezed me hand, and nodded.
"Yeah, Im not in the mood anymore."

"He was going to attack me Derek! Thats not okay! Truthfully, hearing them go at it scared the crap out me!" I yelled, lying on Derek's chest on my bed. I wiped at the tear stains I had left on his shirt.
"I know, but nothing happened. And nothing will happen! By the way.. Have you... Have you talked to her yet? I mean, Harper? Have you asked her what the hell happened?" Derek replied, stroking my hair.
"I texted her. I dont exactly expect her to reply for a while. Being attacked... What if its not true Der? What if Joey made it up?" I inquired quietly.
"Sade, Trevor- Hes a nice guy, but hes not around school and stuff a lot for one reason. Hes either drunk or high most of the time, and I heard that when he is... Its bad," Derek said, scratching his head.
I sat up, leaning over Derek, "Thats why he never drinks at parties! Why didnt you tell me?"
"Because, Sade, to say it nicely, you, err, overreact easily. Plus, its not exactly any of your business. But I guess it is now," he stated.
"So you think Trevor was drunk or something when he supposedly attacked her?" I wondered, and he gave a slight nod. I just sighed.
"Wanna sleep over? We can go to the beach tomorrow. You know you want to!" I smiled, giving him the puppy dog face.
"Okay, okay, fine. Only if we go early, the waves are the best in the morning down there," he laughed.
I nodded.
This will be a fun weekend. It will, it will, it will... I hope.

Maybe I need some fresh air tomorrow. Might be good for my mental health.
