It wasn't every day that Adam would come into work late. Knowing him, he was either early or somehow directly on time.

So when the clock hummed 6:45 am, the time where the doors were supposed to open and instantly pour in unseen daylight, the room still was hollow with stressed workers and a grey feeling.

Step four

Walking down the block, Adam's mind didn't even touch the fact that he was running late. Nor was it noticing that the familiar pallet of haze was already building up in the sky. With his coffee in hand, and the other holding his belongings, his hair was a mess and he forgot to shave.

Adam didn't care at the moment. Appearance didn't change anything for him. He still had 4 more streets to cross, and way more entries he didn't email in yesterday. A meeting at 8:00 then another at 11:45, to then maybe a lunch at 12:32 if he had time.

Moving with the flow, Adam quietly walked around a lady in her mid-twenties, who was walking her small brown pug. Her gaze flickered towards him, and a light blush then appealed her appearance. A boy, maybe the same age, glanced at him. His gaze halted and didn't falter when Adam's gaze met his. With the same eye color, Adam only assumed they were siblings. So he simply nodded his head to both, then continued on.

Knowing he got off work at 9:40, but works overtime, Adam decided to just have instant noodles again tonight. Waiting for the 'walk' symbol to glow white, Adam looked up to get a better look of his surroundings.

The skyscrapers and tall buildings were jumbled up carelessly, no one caring for the fact that they weren't organized. But either way, the structures towered above and seemed to disappear into the sky. The sky, of course, was splattered with the colors of orange, red, and a hint of purple. There were little to no clouds, but if there were, they would be tainted with orange and yellow. With such beauty, Adam didn't realize how much it'll last.

The crowd began to walk across the street, pushing Adam along. With an unknowing sigh, Adam proceeded past the many stores and pubs. Knowing him, he'll defiantly check out the new pastry shop on his next day off.

Checking his watch, Adam didn't realize how late he was until right now.

"Shit!" Adam cursed under his breath, suddenly switching from casual strides to sprinting down the street. Accidentally bumping into people, he received uninterested looks. Such boring people. He threw his half finished coffee in a trashcan when he quickly passed.

Reaching his building, which looked more professional than the other ones, he quickly walked through, straightening his tie in the process. Look casual.

"Adam? You're late." His boss greeted him, gently hitting him with a red binder.

Adam looked over at him, and then smiled. "Boss? You're early."

The two chuckled, knowing all too well that Adam's boss was always late.

"I called in late, didn't I?" Adam added, walking off to the elevator.

"I directed the call towards my secretary." His manager called back, causing Adam to look over his shoulder.

"I know." Adam replied, pressed the up button.

Casually waiting for the elevator doors to open, he noticed the second CEO's secretary glancing at him ever so often. She looked troubled, biting her lip and playing with her pen. Of course Adam new what that meant.

There was a new employee.

Ty woke up on the floor, his feet still hanging loose on top of the bed corner. His blanket was somehow in the hallway, which he glanced at knowing his door was open. His hair was a huge fluff ball, his eyes clearly showing some dark circles. Sometimes he wondered how he slept like this.

Slowly dragging his feet off the bed, Ty twirled so he was on his stomach. His shirt was rolled upwards, his pants pushed downwards. Groaning, Ty slowly sat up. Rubbing his eyes with his shirt sleeve, he spit out some hair that ended up in his mouth and crawled over to the opening.

At the doorway, the hall showed clear wood, something that Ty never even had a second thought about. Easy to clean, easy to handle. Ty finally got up, standing tall. At least, somewhat. He slouched, his eyes half lidded.

Leaning back, both his hands on his back, a single pop made Ty clench his teeth.

Another long day.
