I hear a knock at the door. "Come in". There was a lady I have never seen before coming in. She was tall and athletic figure, with really long white hair that goes down pass her butt. I have never seen hair so white before.
"Hi, my name is Gina Morse, I'm from the women's home. I hear your coming home with me to stay for a while. Beforehand I can till you about the home if you like, maybe it will be easier for you to come home with me".
"That would be nice, because I know nothing about the place that I'm going too. Are you the one in charge of the place I'm going too"?
"Yes I'm the one house director. Currently there are four other women that are living there. Some have children and one is pregnant. They are there to get help also. Women come to me when they are looking for some extra help. Some have had a drug addiction or drinking problems, or their significant other has beat them up and they want out of the relationship. Your story is different from all of theirs. When we get back you will meant all of them, and I'm sure you will make friends".
"Okay, I guess I'm ready". But deep down I really wasn't I wanted Dean here with me. "Can I see Dr. McLenna before we go please, I have a question for her".
"Yes, that's not a problem let me go find her for you".
She walked out and I sat there waiting and thinking a little worried that I will never see Dean again. I held back the tears, trying to be strong. Then Dr. McLenna walked in with Gina.
"Hey I hear you wanted to see me again before you leave, I bet I know what you want". She said as she pulls out her cell phone. She pushes some buttons and then the phone starts to ring till Deans voicemail comes on.
I take a deep breath and let it out. "I do have something that may make you feel better". She says as she pulls out a piece of paper from her pocket, and hands it to me.
I take the paper and look at it, it has Deans name on it with his phone number. This make me feel a little better. "Thank you very much". I say as I hug her. "I hope this helps you".
Gina took me to the women's home which wasn't far from the hospital. I'm glad, I don't feel as far from Dean.
When we get there Gina introduces me to everyone.
This is Mercedes she is 5mos pregnant, she is also new here. This here is Debra she has a 12 yr old daughter Cyndi. Cyndi is at school right now, so you can meet her later. This is Jessica, she has two kids Payton a little girl she is napping right now, she is a year old. This little guy here his name is Brody, he is 3 years old. Brody he is big in books and trucks, so don't be surprised if he ask you to read to him, and be drove on. Richelle she isn't here right now she is at a job interview. Here is her three sons Gordon, Jack, Christopher. Jack is 3 years old, Gordon is five years old, and Christopher is two years old. That is everyone, and everyone this is Cookie our new member of our family. Everyone said hi and welcomed Cookie into our family, and gave hugs even some of the little ones.
Gina and Cookie went to Gina's office to go over some rules of the women's home. Gina explained to Cookie that everyone has to fallow the rules for the safety of everyone here at the home.
We don't talk or mention others at the home to others outside of the home. Some women come to homes like this for their safety and their children safety from other people.
No drug use is allowed if caught you will have a drug test and you have to leave.
No drinking alcohol if caught same as drugs and you will have to leave.
Everyone has a curfew unless its for work, I normally know your hours if your working. You have to be inside at 10pm and you may leave again at 6am.
Be on time for meals if you miss it you miss it.
No friends here unless its okayed by me ahead of time.
Everyone has chores and they need be done.
Everyone has to work on moving forward in their life to make it better for them and their kids. If its parenting meeting to be a better parent to AA meeting or drug addiction meetings. In your case we need to get you a name and Id and a try to get you some life information selected. Then we can find you a class for daily activities and cooking classes to just start out. Then we can find you a job later on.
Everyone has to get a job and I manage the money till I feel that person is able to manage it themselves.
All new members are on a probation period up to a three months for the safety of everyone here. I don't know new members and don't know who is looking for them or what they are up to themselves. Who they use to hang out with or what they was in.
That is all the rules not hard to fallow". Gina said
Do I have to be on probation also, you already know who I am as much as I do".
"I'm very cautious so I can not bend rules for no one. I'm sorry, but you have to understand, I have to look out for everyone, and you may not remember it but you do have a past. We just don't know what it is." Gina said to me, and the look on her face I knew she wish she could help me if she could. I was going to bring up Dean, but I changed my mind.
"I understand Gina and I agree with you on your rules and thank you for letting me stay here, and helping me out. When I had no where else to go".
She had me sign agreement, for me staying at the women's home, and all the rules. I was really scared about what is going to happen between Dean and myself, I don't want to lose him, he is very special in my life. I haven't really been without him even on his day off he would show up to see me.
Gina handed me a notebook and a pen. She wanted me to keep a journal. It has helped a lot of women that have stayed here. She was telling me, as we were walking down the hallway to show me around, and where I will be staying.
Gina said that Mercedes and I will be sharing a room for the time being, because we are both new here.
Mercedes was in our room reading, she had a small pile of books beside her on the bed. The books are about being pregnant, being a parent, and being a single parent, and about babies.
"Thank you for everything Gina" I said
"No problem Dear, but if you don't mind I need to go and get some other things done, you ladies aren't the only ones with duties. I help out to be close to you ladies".
"Okay I will see you later, and thanks again
