Rey, Scavenger

As soon as we let down the anchor and lowered the gangplank, I went to Leia Organa.

I knew as she looked at me that her worst suspicions had been confirmed. We embraced over the loss his loss. I lost the first real father figure I'd really ever had, and she lost her husband.

We only had a few days to grieve together before they combined BB's map with one they'd found in Luke Skywalker's former living space, following the return of his blue greyhound, Artoo, who led them to where it was hidden.

Chewie and I took the map and began our quest.  After two weeks of sailing, we could see Atch To on the horizon.

We weighed anchor next to the tall island and I disembarked, the lightsaber hilt tucked securely into a pouch that hung by my side.

The stairs that wrapped around the green and grey mountain went in forever, clinging to the hillside like shrunken leather to a beam.

I trudged on and on.  The sun dipped closer to the horizon.

Finally, I reached the top.

A brown-hooded figure stood on the opposite side of the mountain top.

He had the Force, I needn't cry out.  So I merely dug the saber from the pouch and took one or two steps forward.

When I extended it, he seemed to sense my presence.

After a long while, he turned, removing his hood.

I looked upon the face of Luke Skywalker for the first time.
