The clock ticked over once again as Ryder and I struggled to keep our eyes open. 3:00am. Lace and Cleo had fallen asleep long ago and had taken the lounge. Greta sat next to me, unable to decide whether to sleep or stay awake. Chris was oddly lying on a table staring at the ceiling while West head banged his sorrows away while listening to metal. Chris hadn't spoken to anyone since he put Harry's lifeless body in the staff room, we were all trying to wipe that memory from our minds. The only thing that made this situation any better was the look on West's face when we found an iPhone charger.
I swore I saw some tears.
I was having trouble understanding how the girls where asleep. Maybe I'm in shock, maybe I'm dead already, I don't know. But I can't sleep in situations like these. My head was throbbing from all of these thoughts, so I tore the hair tie from my ponytail and let my dull brown hair envelope my face.
"Sea Monster!" West called. He chuckled, it sounded odd with his deep voice. I gave him the finger and he just chuckled again before getting back to his game.
Once again, I was left all alone with my thoughts and the sirens in the distance.
"Ryder?"
"Mmm?" He turned to face me. I couldn't make out his facial features very well, the electricity was still working but it we all knew turning the lights on would be a death sentence.
"Can you cheer me up?" I grinned.
"What do you want me to do?"
My grin widened. "Sing for me,"
Ryder giggled and I saw West smile. Greta was having a laugh next to me aswell. Ryder cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair. "Well... Ladies and Gentlemen, we may be enduring the end of the world... but that does not mean we can't still enjoy a little entertainment!"
"Yeah!" Greta cheered as Ryder began busting out some moves. He had no rhythm whatsoever. Ryder pulled out his phone and hastily played a song.
"If I could write you a song
And make you fall in love
I would already have you up under my arm.
I used up all of my tricks,
I hope that you like this.
But you probably won't.
You think you're cooler than me." We cheered more as Ryder sung, he was tone deaf, but he put on a show.
"You got designer shades,
Just to hide your face
And you wear them around like you're cooler than me.
And you never say "Hey"
Or remember my name.
And it's probably cause you think you're cooler than me." Ryder laughed while he was singing. West was notably lip syncing along, even Chris had sat and managed to crack a smile. Greta had even gotten up and she and Ryder danced around. Her curls bounced around as Ryder twirled her.
"I think I need to get in on this," West put down his phone and began to join in on the impromptu dance off. Ryder seemed more of a ballroom dancer, while West was... a dirty dancer. I think they definitely made light of a bad situation.
Just before I was about to join the action, I heard something outside. It sounded like someone whistling along to the tune of the song Ryder just had playing. "Did you hear that?" I said.
