Leilani’s POV:
I walked back to my room in a daze. I don’t get why he keeps doing this. I feel like he’s playing with my head. I mean, he does have a girlfriend…
But still, no matter how hard I try to distance myself of how hard I try to ignore my feelings for him, I just can’t. I’m drawn to him like a moth to a flame.
Right when I got into my empty room, my phone started ringing. I looked at the screen and it said, “Jerri-Ann”.
“Hey, where are you guys?” I answered.
“We’re stopping because we saw a Chipotle. Do you want anything?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“Okay, we’ll be back in around a half hour,” she told me.
“Okay, I’ll just be here then,” I said before we said goodbye and hung up.
I started my homework, but couldn’t focus. My mind kept wandering back to Dana.
Right when I was about to give up on studying, Jerr and Adrienne came in the room with huge smiles on their faces.
“What?” I eyed them cautiously.
“Get ready!” Jerr told me.
“For?” I asked, getting off my bed.
“We’re going to a party!” Adrienne answered.
“Oh… well, I don’t really go to parties,” I told them, “So you guys go ahead without me.”
Jerr groaned, “Come on! Don’t be such a stick in the mud!”
That reminded me of Thalia. I started to feel a slight pain inside when I remembered how much I missed my best friend. I thought about whether or not to go to the party for a second, thinking about what Thalia would say.
“Fine,” I gave in, “But I don’t even have anything to wear.”
“I can help with that!” Adrienne said as her smile grew even bigger than it was when they first came in the room.
Adrienne walked over to the closet and took out a skinny black dress that had cut outs at the waist along with gold pumps.
I sighed, “I’ll wear the dress, but I am definitely not wearing any heals.”
I was not in the slightest bit “girly”. Just agreeing to the dress was a miracle, but I knew it was either the shoes or the dress.
Adrienne and Jerr groaned at my protest.
“Oh!” Jerr jumped off her bed and ran to the closet, “Here!” she handed me a pair of glittery gold vans with black laces.
“Thank you!” I said, grateful that my feat would stay out of pain.
As soon as we all finished getting dressed and doing our hair and makeup, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to find Ian and Nolan waiting for us.
The first thing I saw at the party was, of course, Dana sucking on Belle’s face yet again. But, this time, instead of crying, I was just really mad.
He needs to make up his God damn mind.
As we walked past the two of them, I not-so-accidently on purpose bumped into Dana, causing him to his head on hers.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry!” I faked, knowing that Dana could see the hate and disgust in my eyes.
“It’s fine,” Belle said, rubbing her forehead as Dana just stared at the ground.
I walked away with my friends and the first place they wanted to go was the dance floor. I don’t really know how to dance the way you do at parties. I can’t grind or twerk or yike or anything like that. I was just hoping that Adrienne and Jerr didn’t either.
