I sigh and lock my front door, won't hurt to run a few errands. I am after all in desperate need of some new clothes and now that I think about it I should pick up a few things for Bear while I'm out. I also need to start looking for a new job to help with income.
I get in my car and start it up then slowly pull out of the lot. As I drive down the road I contemplate where I should go first and what I should do first. I really need clothes but Bear really needs new stuff.
What would take the shortest amount of time? I only need to pick up a few items for myself but then I also only need to pick up a few items for Bear. But I also don't want to be homeless anytime soon.
Decisions, decisions. I think I'm gonna go with clothes. I promptly, and illegally I might add, turn left as the light turns red. Causing several cars to honk and halt. Whoops! What can I say, I'm a reckless driver. As I continue down the road I pass by a Pet Smart. Hmmm. Well, it is on the way.
I illegally make a U-turn and almost, once again, cause an accident. How did I ever get my license? The world may never know. I pull into a parking space in front of Pet Smart and see how crowded they are at the moment. I guess I'm gonna go get clothes after all.
I pull out of the lot and start down the road again, doing my best to avoid the oncoming traffic. I take a right turn thinking I know where I'm going. Turns out I have no clue where I am. Just my luck. You can't do anything right, can you Salem? Always have to get lost because you couldn't make up your fucking mind.
I sigh and do my best to try to find a remotely familiar street. No luck. As usual. After mentally arguing with myself about getting lost I pull into the lot of a quaint looking coffee shop. I sigh and decide that maybe a cup of coffee would be good for me.
I pull my key out of the ignition and get out of my car. As I lock it I look up and see the sign on the front window. 'Help Wanted', wooh! You go, Glenn Coco! I happily trot through the coffee shop door and stand at the front counter.
"Hi! Welcome to The Golden Brew! The only place you can get unique, authentic coffee for half the price! My name is Dakota. How may I assist you?" The cashier says
I blink a little then regain my composure.
"Yea. Um. Hi, I guess. But I was just wondering about your 'Help Wanted' sign and I would like an application please." I say in the sweetest voice I can muster.
"Oh yes! Not many people want to work here at The Golden Brew. Can't imagine why though. But yes, one moment please." He says.
He turns and walks into the back room. I turn my head and begin to check out the place a little. Small. Quite. Quaint. Slightly cozy with the brief stench of mildew. It'll have to do.
"Here you go!" He says. I snap out of my thoughts and reach out for the application. As my fingers begin to lock down on the edge of the paper he snatches it back.
"Oh, I almost forgot! One more thing before I give this to you. I need you to do something for me. Are you ready?" He asks with a creepy smile on his face.
I gingerly shake my head up and down. He smiles and says good.
"I need you to smile. I need you to smile your biggest smile and show all your pearly whites. It's just a little something I personally added to the application. The bigger and better the smile the bigger and better the service." He says.
I quickly flash a fake grin and resume to take the piece of paper from his hand. I quickly turn and leave. I exit the shop and jump into my car and look in through the window and see him staring after me. I pull out of the lot and do my best to find the closest clothes store.
