After throwing my bag into the back seat of my car I run across the street onto the sidewalk. I walk by the clothes store again and look in through the dusty window as I walk by. My eyes meet the woman's again and I quickly look away. I speed walk down the sidewalk, reading the shop names as I pass by.
"Boring. Boring. Boring." I say as I pass each store and point to them.
As I near the end of the strip I come upon a store that catches my attention. 'Evergreen', sounds kinda cool but also kinda sketchy. Eh, what the Hell. Worth it. I push the door open and walk into the store. I turn my head to look around the store and find books and small viles of creams and things.
I walk up to a rack of viles. I pick up a small spherical dark green glass bottle. The bottle has a black string connected to an old looking brown cork in the top of the bottle holding all its contents inside.
I look at the label taped to the bottle. Crushed dragonfly wings, the label reads. I grimace and turn the bottle over to read the information.
"Keeps away unwanted 'friends' such as ghouls, spirits, demons, ghosts, unkind elfs, etc. Pour around home every night before bed for one month. Yatta yatta yatta, blah blah blah." I mumble.
I sigh and toss the vile back onto the rack and begin to look at others. I quickly become bored and wander over to an old bookcase and look around. I pick up a thick book with a black leather binding.
I look for a title but have no luck in finding one. I turn it over and have no luck on the back either. I open the book and see small cursive handwriting. I begin to flip through the pages while blowing raspberries out of my mouth.
The book intrigues me but I don't know why. I walk up to the counter and buy it. I exit the store and arrive at my car. I get in then throw the book into the back seat with the clothes.
I punch in the address to the nearest Pet Smart into my phone, pull out of the lot and begin my journey.
