Valentine's Day...a day of chocolate, romance, and popularity contests...
For Kazu, a day of torture.
***
The school made a new rule that he had to attend his classes at least one day a month, and he figured that he wouldn't have to actually do any learning on Valentine's Day, so he picked that day to show up. He met up with Ryuu at the school gates.
"Hey, Kazu!" Ryuu called out, waving and jogging over.
Kazu observed him with his typical bored expression. "Hey."
The two talked for a few minutes until Ryuu had to leave for class, and he took off running in the hopes that he wouldn't be late. Kazu just shrugged and casually walked to his homeroom, arriving five minutes after the bell. As he entered, he mumbled an insincere apology to the teacher, and all of the girls in the class sat up, their backs straighter as they tried to force their hair into submission.
"Damn it. Why couldn't Kazumi show up?" one of the boys muttered as Kazu took his seat. Another one of the boys turned to look at Kazu.
"Well...if you really look closely...I mean, they're twins, right? And they act the same..."
Another boy nodded. "I see what you're saying...Kazu's pretty similar to Kazumi...in fact, he's almost identical..."
The boys all stared at Kazu, and the longer they looked, the more and more he looked like Kazumi. "Maybe...Kazu isn't so bad..." they began whispering. "I mean, he's basically Kazumi..." "Yeah..."
Soon, "Kazu" and "Kazumi" started to seem more and more like the same person to them, although they never realized how close to the truth they were.
"K-Kazu! Please accept this!" a girl shyly proclaimed, holding out chocolate towards Kazu. "I m-made it myself! For you!"
Kazu looked first at the chocolate and then at the girl. "Fine," he said, shrugging and looking out the window. "You can leave it on my desk."
The girl blushed and dropped the chocolate before scurrying back to her seat, trying to conceal her smile as her friends chattered around her.
The first confession immediately led to four more, and soon every girl in the class was waiting to give Kazu chocolate. Girls from the next class over had already heard that Kazu had showed up today and were also trying to join in.
Irritated and feeling a bit claustrophobic, Kazu smoothly jumped out the window and wandered around a lower section of the room before he was yanked into a room, someone shutting the door behind them, only it wasn't a room so much as a broom closet.
"Wait, what-" Kazu began, but the girl who had kidnapped him was already targeting her prey. She immediately fitted her lips over his, cutting off his protests, and Kazu fumbled with the doorknob for a few seconds before stumbling out of the closet and wiping his lips, only they weren't his lips anymore, but hers, because it wasn't Kazu but rather Kazumi who was now walking down the hallway.
Normally, being kissed would lock Kazu in his present gender for a full day so to speak, but Valentine's Day was different. On this one day of the year, each time he was kissed, his gender would automatically reverse...which was going to create a rather interesting experience for him.
Kazumi looked down to find herself wearing the guys' uniform and sighed in annoyance. "Damn," she muttered. "At least nobody will give me chocolate cause I'm a girl..."
Just then, a guy from Kazumi's class was walking down the hallway on an errand for the teacher when he caught sight of Kazumi. He immediately dropped all of the papers he was carrying and stared. Is that Kazu or Kazumi in a guys' uniform? He thought for a moment before his eyes narrowed. You know what? It doesn't even matter anymore...They're pretty much the same, anyway... He began sprinting down the hallway towards Kazumi, who had just looked up to see a boy running towards her.
Oh shit, she thought before she began running off in the opposite direction. Just then, the girl from earlier dragged Kazumi into the empty nurse's room, where all the lights were off. At least it's not a closet, Kazumi thought distractedly before the girl began unbuttoning Kazumi's shirt.
"What the hell?!" Kazumi snapped, trying to steal her clothes back, but the girl was far too determined to give up. She kissed Kazumi again while trying to undress the both of them, but once again, Kazumi (now Kazu) resisted and grabbed his clothing back before running out only to realize that in his haste, he'd picked up the girl's uniform instead of his own.
"Damn it," Kazu growled, staring down at the skirt that he managed to pull off all too well. "Damn it all."
"Kazumi?" asked another boy from his class, who had stopped a few feet away from him and was blushing. "Is that you? D-do you need help with anything? Or m-maybe you're lost?"
"I'M KAZU, DAMN IT!" Kazu yelled, his manly pride offended.
"O-oh," the boy said, looking down first before looking back up at Kazu, still blushing. "B-but you're wearing the girls' uniform..."
"There was a slight misunderstanding," Kazu muttered, glaring out of his peripherals at nobody in particular.
"Well, I'm glad," the boy murmured in a trance-like voice, "because you look great, Kazumi."
"Does it LOOK like I have boobs?!" Kazu snapped. "I AM NOT KAZUMI!"
The boy just shrugged. "Either way..."
"NOT either way!" Kazu shouted. "Just leave me alone!" Without looking back, he ran away and hid in his music room, where Ryuu found him at the end of the day.
"Hey, Kazu," Ryuu said as he entered. "I had to look everywhere for you! Where have you b- Kazumi?" he cut off, frowning as he noticed Kazu's uniform.
"Kazu," Kazu muttered succinctly. "And no, I don't want to be wearing the girls' uniform, but on Valentine's Day, a kiss changes my gender instead of seals it, and...well...let's just say I forgot how much I hate Valentine's Day."
"Well," Ryuu said, shrugging. "I don't know about Valentine's Day, but I think I can help with the uniform part." Shyly, he leaned forward, eyes closed, and sweetly kissed Kazu so when he pulled away and opened his eyes, a girl was standing before him. "More comfortable now?"
Kazumi smirked. "So you're not straight."
"I am too straight!"
"You're the only one who believes that..."
"Kazu!!"
