Chapter Nine
•Brielle•
"I don't get it," Aidy told me.
I shrugged, not caring that she didn't understand. Honestly, I didn't get it either, and that was part of the reason I couldn't answer her.
"But I'm glad you're finally going out with someone other than Noah or me," my sister said as she started clearing the dinner plates off the table. "What time is he coming over?"
I opened my mouth to reply, but I was cut off by the sound of the doorbell.
"Now," I muttered.
Noah got up from his seat at the table and went to answer the door.
"I'm so happy for you," Aidy said.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Why?"
My sisters eyes started to water. "He's changing you, Brielle, and it's for the better. It may have only been a week since you two were reunited, but it's amazing to watch the changes he makes in you."
I opened my mouth to say something, but was cut off by another voice.
"Hey Brie!" Justin says cheerfully.
Giving him a small smile, I quickly focused back on the table after.
"You ready to go?" he asked.
Nodding, I got up from my seat and started to make my way up to my room to grab what I was bringing.
Tonight was the night Justin of taking me to the beach. He found a little private stretch that we could go to, and it was already nine at night. He wanted to make sure I would be comfortable, and that there would be no people around. I can't begin to explain how thankful I was for that.
Quickly grabbing my flip flops, I had to hold myself back from sprinting back down the stairs. The truth was that I was excited to go. Sure, I'm scared, but overall I'm excited.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, I faltered when I met Justin's eyes. He smiled at me, making me blush slightly like a little girl.
"You ready?" he asked me, his smile clear in his voice.
Sending one last glance at my sister, she gave me a thumbs up with a cheeky smile before snuggling herself under Noah's arm.
"Have fun!" Aidy cheered.
Giving her a small smile, I said a simple, "Okay," before walking out the door Justin was holding open for me.

"We'll won't be too late," I told Aidy and Noah.
"No worries," Noah said.
"This is the first time she's going out without me," Aidy murmured to no one in particular. She was staring at the front door where Brielle had just walked through. Turning her attention to me, she said in the most serious voice is ever heard, "She's going to be scared, Justin. However, you can calm her down. She may have a few panic attacks here and there- she always does when she leaves the house- but all you have to do is figure out how to concentrate her attention on either you or the water."
"I will," I confirmed.
Turning to walk out the door, Aidy cut in again.
"Justin?" Her voice sounded weak.
Facing her, I asked, "Yes?"
She looked like a mother watching her child leave on the first day of school. "Please take care of her."
